Sets of tyres for DWYB

Hi all

First day at pod will be coming up soon and I have no idea what the surface is like, trying to figure out how many tyres I'm going to need to take with me? I'll hopefully do a quick warm up on the doughnut pen, then figure 8 for the rest of the morning and hopefully a full afternoon on the kidney course.

I was planning on using 2 pairs of new tyres for the rear (cheapest set new £40 each) hoping this will be enough? Not sure if part worns would be worth it? Also i'll be driving the car home (hopefully) so I need a tiny bit of life in the rears still for a 2.5 hour journey.

Am I optimistic? Advise pls

Depends on what car you have. If it's an mx5 you'll be fine

As a general rule however I wouldn't drift on any rear tyres you plan on driving home on

S13 but it's my first full drift day so probably will spend a lot of time spinning instead of tyre burning haha. Okay thanks man appreciate it

Sounds like you should be fine. The tyre guys often have part worn tyres with them which can also be reserved in advance. If you start fearing you might run out of rubber, give them a shout before they all get used up...

Surface is ok, not smooth tarmac but not airfield. Quite a few potholes last time I was there.

Depends on car / power but as above, they have part-worns on site and dont drift on your drive home rubber...

i have a ps13 on 15s, i went through about 2/3 tyres last time. I have camber and toe arms so im running hardly any camber on the rear so im sure 4 would be fine. Are you going to 31st?

Ah good to know, I didn't realise they had tyres on site so that's a big help, thanks!

Unfortunately my rear set up is standard so the coilovers are giving some negative camber at the rear (this will be sorted soon!). Looking at going March 21st I think, plenty of time to get a few things sorted
