Ive been working on a Silvia project at uni. I know there's a lot to live up to when designing a classic so hopefully you lot like it. I'm not completely happy with it due to rushing deadlines etc. but here's a side profile.
What do you think?

Hi there . Good effort I think there are some interesting ideas . Especialy around the c pillar that match what Nissan did with the IDX concept (My favorite concept ever :D) for the tokyo motorshow .

What Uni are studying at?

When you do a concept like this just try to make sure you really capture what make a silvia a silvia . Everything is about proportions .

Here is what I think isn't right with your model, I hope I won't sound too harsh as it's not my intension :

-First of all I think your wheels are way to big, it's only my personal opinion but I think smaller wheels make designs look more refined and smater . (I know in sketches it looks amazing but in Alias or whatever software you use it looks quite tacky and boy racer)

-Be carefful with your bonnet line, yours has a constant curvature all the way from bumper to wind screen and is really round . Look at my image you will notice that all those cars have a really flat bonnet that only start to accelerate toward the bumper from about above the center of the front wheel .

-Also be really carefull about ratios . I thinks silvias looks really cools because they are basically a small trapezoid on a long and slim rectangle . Silvia's main body are really long and slim, make sure you get this feeling in your model, I think yours looks a bit heavy . Mayby the main body is too tall?
The angle and placement of the upper part is important . I think your rear screen is too far forward and your windscreen a touch too far backward (this would help you to get the door shutline in the right place. )
Maybe a slim A pillar would help instead of the big radius you have between the screen and side window (I might be completely wrong on this one )

Your front and rear arches are too tall, I would drop the top line of your rear and front arch (and this would cure the feeling of heavyness on the body prpobably )

-The rear overhang is too low, again it make the model look heavy.

-having a little step on the front and rear bumper remove some more weight at the top of the main body . I think this is quite important on this car .

-not sure on the miror too but maybe I am wrong

You have a descent base to start with, now you just need to massage it . No worry it's part of the design process when you had enginneering on top of it, it gets even worst!!:D

Now, on a pure personal note . I know they did it on the S15, and I always hated it, that little negative flick just below the bodysdie line that becomes the top of the rear arch . please don't do it!!! :D

Just to give you a bit of info about myself . I am not a car designer but I am an Alias modeller and work on concept and production car with designers and engineers .

Just another quick thing . It's always good when you start a 3d model like this to start with a few references .
If you reuse, let say, the S15 measurement (height, width, wheel base, rear and front overhang ) with a few foto references or blueprints in the backgroung it should give you a pretty good starting point .
