Skyline R32 GTR or E34 M5?

Hi Guys

I am looking to purchase either a Skyline GTR R32/33 or a BMW E34 M5. I would like it as both a daily and an occasional drifter. Which of the two would you select for overall satisfaction?

Although they are worlds apart, I'm torn between the two :wack:

If you really do want to drift. The M5.
And they're cool as fuck, driven all the options a fair bit, and I still think M5 even when the GTRs were faster (Tuned).

Thanks people. I probably will choose the M5. If I bought a Skyline it would have to be the GTR purely for daily driving - however, I've heard, whilst you can pull a fuse on the AWD, engine problems are astronomical in repair bills and can be quite a common problem. The M5 sounds harder and way more reliable.

Why not the e39?

Yeah, I've looked at the e39 and really like it. It's more powerful but more expensive to repair. I used to have an e46 M3, when they started to become a little more complex, and learned how small problems can crop up. I think the e34 is a more basic and I like the screaming 6 over the V8.

That's a good price, couldn't get them for less than £460 myself
Same goes for a maf

Still bloody great car and a definite future investment if you get a nice one.

I've never seen or known anyone in the UK use an E34 M5 for skids.

So buy the E34 so I can say I've seen it.

As people have said the m5 is brilliant but can cost mega money.
Don't buy cheap!

E39 hsd coilovers don't take much to fit and cost the same as a single rear shock!!

I'd choose the skyline mate, mainly because I'm bias toward jap cars and having owned a r33 I'd happily own another one. I'm sure the beamer is a great car but never owned one.
