Skyline R33 GT-St still drivable without HICAS

Hi all!

First a little introduction, I`m Hank I drive a Skyline R33 GT-St and I`m from Holland....

I`m really interested getting into the drifting scene, but I`m having difficulty making a choice..
Either I can remove the HICAS from my R33 and go drift with it... or I can buy myself an old banger car and start learning in that.

As you may understand, I have a lot of money invested in the R33.. and it would break my heart if I damage it..
So my question is: Is a R33 still driveable without HICAS (even when it`s wet and I don`t want to drift on for example a highway).

Or is it better to get myself a old car... then I can wreck!

Many thnx for any respons!

Greetz,
Hank

Hi Hank, welcome :)

your car will drive fine without the HICAS, in fact it will drive a lot better.. it will mean that it simple dives as any other rwd car..
ive disabled mine in my r32 but i plan to remove it completely..

as for using the r33, drifting by its nature means that at some point you may aquire some dents, its just part and parcel.. if your careful then the chances are lessened, but you can never be sure..

if you are that worried about it then perhaps another car would be a good starting point :)

Thnx Jason!

The problem is that my R33 is the only R33 GT-St in Holland and 1 of only 8 Skylines that are streetlegal.
It has quite a lot of mods, and it costed me a lot of money so far!

I`ll think Im going to buy a special car for drifting... something real cheap.
I`ve been thinking about a Silvia S12.. can anyone tell me if this would be a nice car to start the art of drifting in? :D

from speaking to people the general consensus is the r32 hicas is to slow being as it is a hydrolic unit the reation is slower and there for it is common for r32 drivers to remove it rather than just lock it off as it also saves weight. :smash:

33 and 34 are electricly controlled devices

e30's make good drift shitters

I had the r33 gts-t last week in Belguim,2nd place,standard car apart from welded diff,front mount and exhaust.DRIVE IT.......DRIFT IT......ENJOY IT
I have 11 r33 breaking any bits needed give me a shout
