Sloth paced '32 build from NZ

Well I'm just going to be honest, I'm bored as fuck so I thought I'd make a build thread. I've owned my r32 sedan for nearly three years (bought it as a present to myself when I turned 18 lol), not a lot of progress has been made due to the fact that I'm studying at uni so I don't have much money to put towards it.
Anyway, it's being built as a drift car but will remain road legal.

This is what is looked like a few weeks after I bought it, gave it a good clean and it came out pretty good

003-2.jpg

At this stage, it had 17x9 drift teks, D2 adjustable suspension, front mount and exhaust.
Started to fit up GTR front bumper and the car already had the bonnet and grille when I bought it.

Turned out like this

Hated the tow bar since day one, so I took it off the proper way.
001-2.jpg

There was a bit of surface rust on the bumper support so that got tidied up while I was there.
004-1.jpg

008-3.jpg

More to come, just have to upload the photos

Fitted my catch can
006-2.jpg

removed the rubber intake pipe
001-4.jpg

replaced it with this
004-2.jpg

I stripped everything from the front seats back, I'm yet to remove the useless wiring but it's on my two page long list of things to do. Gave it a paint after removing the sound proofing too.
007-1.jpg

Bought some spare wheels, decided they looked better than the drift teks, so on they went.

proceeded to remove the A/C which got out of had and ended up with me cleaning up the entire front of the car
019-1.jpg

016.jpg

This little thing caused the most problems as it was in the way of one of the bolts
017.jpg

Tidied up the bumper support
035.jpg

036.jpg

gave it a coat of paint after cleaning 20+ years of road grime
002-2.jpg

painted my grille the right colour
006-1.jpg

007-3.jpg

Not a bad finish considering it was done with a can

Have also built a front facing plenum exactly the same as this one

attention to detail here is awsome. looking better in every picture!
is that internal gate welded up enough??

No major progress with this, although I've now found all the bits I need.

Acquired a new box which had been in a friends car. Will swap my broken one out and rebuild it to keep as a spare.
001-8.jpg

Was bored, so I painted it

Also picked up some rear traction arms

Also got this to keep the power steering fluid from boiling

Just waiting until my uni exams are over before I install everything.

is the gtr bumper one of those fake ones? did it have a good fit?? tidy car, i like... would stay away from cut n shut mani though!! standard setup works just fine

Nope it's a genuine plastic Nissan one.

Got some weld on fittings put on today (A job I was ment to do last year)
001-9.jpg

You can see where this is going can't you?

Painted

So much blue
008-6.jpg

Back at home, so I pulled the covers off (first time in 6 months, and it hasn't been driven in a year!)and made a start. I'm going to do the wiring side of things first.
001-12.jpg

003-10.jpg

I'm removing the ABS so the computer and associated **** tonne of wiring. Question is what is the other ecu for?
007-8.jpg

008-9.jpg

Turns out some idiots had a go at my wiring too. This is starting to be like my flatmates S13 again.....
010-4.jpg

Plan for this weekend is to bin the ECU's and wires then relocate the battery to the boot.

Made a list, thought it would only be a page..........
014-2.jpg

and yeah that's a light bolted to a piece of cardboard lol

since I'm tracing back all the hicas and abs wires the carpet has to come up. Took the opportunity to chip off the sound deadening
007-9.jpg

Got to be one of the worst jobs.........
014-3.jpg

Huge thanks to mum for helping chip this shit off. Nearly done the passenger side, just have to wire bush then give it a coat of paint
015-2.jpg

Minimal, progress is minimal.

Have been rather busy at work this week.

In a bid to tidy up the engine bay the battery was shifted to the boot. Have not run a cable to the boot as yet as we are still deciding on what size to run.
006-6.jpg

Making use of the Garage Stalk3r alloy battery bracket :)
009-9.jpg

Finished getting rid of all the abs/hicas wires and got the last of the sound proofing off.
010-5.jpg

011-6.jpg

glad to have this out (there's still more to be removed)
014-4.jpg

Took the opportunity to paint the floor black like the boot, painting inside the car is a pain in the ass
012-3.jpg

Reinstalled the carpet and ran a new wire from the ecu to trigger the fuel pumps. That's about it for today, tomorrow will consist of running the battery wire from front to back and tiding up the last of the wires.

Had a change of mind about where the relays were positioned along with the battery. In the interest of safety (keeping the electrics away from the fuel) they were shifted to where the back seat was. Mounted in a Battery box , new terminals, new chunky earth wire and some good cable to run to the front of the car which I got for free from work. Now it's just a case of putting all the wires in a protective casing to make it look all pretty and stuff.

005-10.jpg

On another note, I pulled the drivers side guard off, it still had that factory blob of seam sealer holding on to the guard, that's a good sign.

You can have it any coluor as long as it's black

As y'all know, I like to paint things. My axles were looking a bit worse for wear and my oil cooler was a terrible silver.
012-4.jpg

014-5.jpg

Bring on Friday so I can start stripping the engine bay ready for a coat of you guessed it............ black

Got the passenger guard off stripped headlights and wiring loom.
001-14.jpg

ABS pump gone
012-5.jpg

Not much to say, waiting on other people :( Test mounted my oil cooler
131.jpg

got some new front brake lines made up. Wasn't too keen on using the hel ones after test fitting them.
132.jpg

Gave the wheel arches a coat of por15 since I won't be using the inner guards anymore
001-15.jpg

Finally got round to painting the engine bay
004-13.jpg

008-11.jpg

Currently reassembling it, maybe it will be done by the end of the month.

Power steering cooler mounted. Just have to get the lines mounted properly.
001-16.jpg

The usual Christmas rush has hit at work so I haven't been spending as much time on this as I should be. 27 days worth of work to do in 7 haha.

all the broken manifold studs are out, took the opportunity to replace them all.
027.jpg

Braided brake lines in
001-17.jpg

Was on the verge of calling it quits with this yesterday, nothing has gone right. Had gone to the point of filling out a trade me listing but couldn't bring myself to actually list it. I'm still being held up by other people,so I'm just continuing with the little annoying jobs for now.

Made up all the oil cooler lines, and relocated the filter.
009-10_zps3e0a7a73.jpg

Started to make up a bracket to support my front mount, just have to pop into work to use the drill press as mine can't drill through that steel
008-12_zps6d86d6bb.jpg

External welded onto the factory manifold.
002-7_zps08548b63.jpg

Is there a torque for manifold studs or is it just mo' ****ing tight?

Also installed the garage stalk3r alloy steering bush.

Finished my intercooler bracket, solid as **** now. Painted in black of course.
001-18_zps1d1dedf2.jpg

Have replaced a lot of the bolts in the engine bay with stainless ones
004-14_zpse2bd5cac.jpg

Swapped over my cam covers, replaced the gaskets at the same time.

010-6_zpsd2910887.jpg

Have only done one, will try to get the other one done when I get back from the gym. Also put some new spark plugs in it.

re-assembled it, missing the wastegate dump as I'm waiting on a friend to make it for me. Ignore the shitty brake line, new one has since been made.
029_zpsb9c6ff52.jpg

037-2_zps16eb3726.jpg

Have moved onto the back of the car, trying to get these axle nuts off was a ****.
002-7_zps4bd06127.jpg

it required the use of this pipe as a breaker bar
003-11_zps73759cdd.jpg

Dropped the subframe out an started with the por15. Subframe will be stripped in the coming days wand painted in black, then re-assembled with new arms and tomei diff.
012-6_zps6b2a76a5.jpg

subframe has been painted and awaiting assembly. Decided to make something to roll it around as my jack doesn't like the carpet and it's a little too heavy to carry once the diff is in.
001-18_zps2a2b51db.jpg

mostly back together, awaiting on axle bolts then I'll tighten everything up
