Hi all,
I am in progress with moving to Portugal, but unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be the best country for car enthousiasts. Since my Portuguese in non-existant, I am hoping someone here knows/has experience with the subject.
Broad question, probably not a simple answer:
Are modified cars allowed in Portugal, and if so: what is allowed?
I am thinking about a wide array of things:
1. standard stuff like coilovers/wider wheels
2. rollbars/cages
3. chiptuning
4. turbo upgrades
5. complete turbo kits (NA to turbo)
6. engine swaps fitting with OEM parts
7. engine swaps from a different manufacturer
Backstory: Covid has shown many companies remote work is possible. Portugal has a nice climate and nice mountain terrain. I really really want to get a turbo k24 mx5 up and running.
What I've learned so far, is that the first registration is pretty silly (based on engine capacity, CO2 and age). Yearly tax seems OK however.
