SR22VET .. What is it?

Might be stupid question but I've hunted around and can't find the answer? Is the SR22VET just an SR20 stroked out to a 2.2 with a different head from one of the nissan jeeps or something? Not wanting it in my car I'm just generally curious :cool:

2.2 bottom end (crank and rods)

With a VE head, could be a SR16VE or SR20VE, both the same and came on import sunnys/primera's I beleive. People use this head because it has higher lift, more aggressive cams (being VVL N/A engines) and much bigger ports again because of the fact its a relatively high power n/a head.

I have a SR22 and currently trying to sort out a VE head for it, would be a screamer of an engine :)

Thanks for the reply guys.
It sounds like an amazing combo! Why doesn't more people do it?
Is it a really hard project to do and get it in a different car or if you don't mind me asking sparky is it expensive to do?

It's expensive, and it only makes sense when going for big power 600+ bhp. Otherwise it's better to stick with a normal SR20 and spend the rest of the cash on hookers, drugs, and practice days :smokin:

The reason people don't is because of the costs involved in my opinion. You have to buy the mazworx adapter kit, and the stroker kits themselves are cheap.

As said its expensive, £400-500 for a full head then the Mazworx stuff (if you go for the full race plenum etc comes to $1800ish)

Still deciding what to do, I could do it just means its going to take me longer

You don't have to get the Mazworx, you can get them from other places. But anyway the solenoid adapters are the cheapest part. You also need:
a VE head: 500
VE oil pump: 200
inlet pleneum: 200
throttle body: 100
modified CAS: 150-200
modified main crank pulley: 150
stand alone ecu: 500-1000
that's 2k right there, and you don't have a turbo, injectors, etc etc.

I've had an SR22VET, and it's an awesome engine, it sounds nuts and revs like it's on coke, but looking back a JZ swap is much more cost effective. I'd say that up to 400bhp stick with a DET, and if you want over 400 go for a six cylinder engine.
