Supercharged IS200/R33 GTST Builds

Hello all, I’ve had the Lexus for a couple of months now and I’m starting to accumulate some parts for it. Thought this would be a good time to make my first ever build thread.

The IS200 is my daily and I know it’s stupid but I’m planning on making it my skidder as well :wack:

So anyway here it goes.

Bought the car a couple of months back from a bloke in Birmingham , after 2 hours of waiting for a bank transfer to go through we swapped keys for cash and I was driving her home.

Crap photo I know but the only one I have from when I bought it.

The car was already supercharged when I got it so I will list the spec of when I bought it.

Eaton M62 Supercharger from Mercedes
Copy of TTE supercharger cradle
Patriks Black Box
Mishimoto Intercooler
Pro sport Boost Gauge
Mini Cooper Bypass
HSD Dualtec Coilovers
130mm pulley set up

I’ve got no idea on power but thank god it’s got the supercharged because I’m sure my niece scooter is faster than it when the charger is off :D

So here is a picture of the car as it stands today, not a lot has changed as of yet.

All I have done in my owner ship is a service;

Oil,oil filter,plugs
I’ve got diff and gearbox oil but still yet to change it.

I changed the couplers on the intercooler to some samco black ones because they were blue before and looked shocking.
At the same time I cut out the grill as it had been butchered and looked poor, plus I love the intercooler hanging out!

Will be making up a new stencil and re spraying the intercooler with a couple of light coats to make it pretty again.

I’ve done a few minor body repairs like fixing the hanging bumpers and what not, the car is actually at a friends getting a 3stage polish as I post this and I’ll be collecting it tomorrow.

The brakes were shot so I changed them to some grooves discs all around and some new pads.

Coil overs could do with new springs but for now they’ll do.

Yesterday I fit a new Japspeed rad to it cause the original was about to go bang.

The previous owner had greyed out the front and rear lights to get rid of that gash Corsa B style rear light which I thank him for strongly lol

The car came with a full TRD kit and wind deflectors plus the rear upper spoiler,it’s just a slight bit out of shape so doesn’t like sticking down, I’ll get round to sorting it properly soon.

I’ve got a few bits on order for it including;

145mm pulley for more boost
1zzfe Injectors to match fuel(they are being sent of to be cleaned in the next couple of days)
Belt has already arrived for the upgrade
and just for scene points I’ve ordered some curtains :D Always wanted some so I couldn’t help myself lol.

I’m in the middle of spraying a few engine covers atm cause the bay looks pants and I just want everything to look that bit tidier.

Hopefully by this time next week it will be looking a lot cleaner and boosting that bit harder!

Near future plans are wheels because the stock wheel offset is just wank and I’m not spending money on spacers when I want new jonnys anyway.
I’ve got an exhaust blow I need sorting.
I want to get another diff and weld it. Although this car is the SE model that was more of a cruiser package I.e leather seats all that fancy stuff the previous owner bought a LSD off of the sport so it still does a half decent skid, I just like predictably .

Then funnily the most important part of the build, MORE SEAT TIME!

Need to get my confidence up so I can grow the cohones to skid my main car the R33, which if people would like to see I don’t mind dedicating an hour to making a build thread for too.

Anyways that’s my two cents as of now, there is probably a few things I’ve missed as always but that’s how it is.
Atm the car isn’t even supercharged as the belt snapped on me but as I say by next weekend it’ll be back bigger and better than ever.

Thanks for reading, see you with an update tomorrow when it’s back from the polish.

Nice one ment to make 250bhp ish with the setup you have there iv no proof on this tho. More then enough to drift anyways. Best of luck with it. Put up the 33 shur why not

Yeah I’ve read mixed HP reports from loads of different people, never really seen a dyno readout to prove the power. I’m gunna get the new bits fitted and then maybe take it to Horsham Developments for a dyno run. Hopefully then it’ll give others a basic idea of what power they can achieve.
Will do mate, I’m gunna take some photos later on and I’ll get them added to this thread along with the IS200 updates to keep things easy.

Cheers

Right, got the car back from my mates. He did a blinding job on the paint and got rid of pretty much every swirl that had ever been rubbed into it. There’s is still A LOT of stone chips and a few deep scratches especially on the side skirts and front splitter and NS front bumper but nothing that a bit of touch up paint can’t fix.

So once the touch up is done to chips and scratches and I’ve got a decent set of wheels the car should be a tidy little daily. He did the front and rear lights as well which came out amazing!

When I got back I stuck the engine covers back in because I just want the bay to look nice and tidy really.

Still look a bit patchy but they were so faded and shit before the bay just looked knackered!

That’s everything all back in, much better in person believe me, the photo makes it look very poor.
Got a Mishimoto come filter on the way to freshen that up and then it all needs a good wipe down and a few rusty bolts and nuts replacing.
Might all seem a waste of time but I’m a bit OCD which is going to be a BIG problem with a skidder

Anyways, as I was saying I’ve got a second car which is a 93 R33 GTST , here’s a few pics.

Recently had it all checked over at Horsham Developments. Great compression results thank god, had all the engine serviced and gear box and diff oil done.
The cars got a little bit of rust that needs attention but what 90s car doesn’t really.

Not 100% sure on power but I’m thinking just over the 300 mark.

List of mods aren’t crazy really but here’s what’s on it as of yet;

Standard turbo set up
Kakimoto exhaust with a japspeed decat
Mishimoto rad
Greddy intercooler
Greddy boost controller
HKS blow off
HKS turbo timer
Nismo clutch
Supposed Nismo short shifter
Japspeed front and rear upper arms
Front and rear strut braces

That’s about it for performance stuff. The front bumper, wings, bonnet, rear wings, rear bumper, side skirts are all fibreglass so it’s been on a good diet.

I’ve just recently got two Recaro Confetti LeMan seats to put in it but I have to wait for payday for rails and potential the harnesses that I want.

That’s about it for now, will update this thread with any progress on both cars.
Cheers for reading so far!

So I’m off of work until the weekend and thought it’d be a good day to get a few bits done to both cars.

My friend drives a MK2 MX5 and he bought a donor one recently with a few bits on it. It came with a Pioneer double din and he didn’t want it so I bought it off of him for £30.

A couple of days ago I went to for it and found a f**king mess of wiring behind the stereo. I couldn’t be bothered at the time but as I had the day off today I thought I’d crack on and get it all corrected as best as I could.

Here’s a photo of the jumble behind it:

Lots of shite soldered connections with electrical tape over the top, I set about cutting them all back and putting connectors in there so it’s easy to get everything out and back in if need be at any point.
When i was finished it was a lot neater and much less of a headache to look at:

The above photo was about half way through and I forgot to take a final photo but you get the idea.

My boost gauge had been funny for a while, if the harness was knocked slightly it would through the gauge into WARNING even if idle.
While everything was out I had easy access to the Greddy data link unit and I saw the the white and black cables going into it had worn away going into the block, I cut them and removed the pins from the block so I could solder it all back up starting with the black cable:

Everything was going really well until I started on the white cable! I had the small little connector(seen in the furthest left of the above photo) in a pair of grips ready to solder and it went PING never to be found again. For now I’ve had to bodge it and push the cables into the block so that it will connect but it’s left me with the same intermittent issue as when the wires were worn, found a new harness online but only available in USA and looks like it’s gunna cost a small fortune to get.

So that was pretty much that, tidied up all the wiring for the headunit and boost controller but still need to get a permanent fix for the boost gauge harness.

Here is what it all looked like afterwards, I had to relocate the boost controller to the ash tray as it used to sit in the single din tray under the stereo and use a bit of cable to get rid of a small gap that was left above the stereo and the heater controls.

Much better IMO as it makes the car look that bit more modern inside. That was it for the Skyline for today.

I then went on to the Lexus.
A few bits arrived for me so I was like a pig in shit.

I know had everything I needed for he bigger pulley setup;

-Belt
-Injectors
-And of course the pulley itself.

I went with a company called rank one as tbh I couldn’t find another company that made them anywhere. Came from Bulgaria and didn’t take to long to get here, plus build quality seems pretty legit so I’m happy.

I need to get the injectors sent off tomorrow for cleaning and then I’ll probably be spending Saturday week fitting everything and giving it a good test run.

Something that was easy and ready to fit however also arrived and that was some curtains for that VIP look lol.
Not everyone’s thing I appreciate but I’ve always thought they looked cool and when I’ve got a good wheel set up and height is sorted out it should bring the car together quite nicely.

That’s it for today, tasks tomorrow are to clean both the cars inside and out, send off the injectors and I might start to clean up a bit of rust I’ve discovered on the skyline.

Sorry for lack of skid related content but it’s all to come I promise.
Thanks for reading
