WELCOME TO
My name is Michel Rayes and I am the Pro Driver of TEAM PONY DRIFT that was born 2009. This car was purchased for the sole purpose to become a drifting car and is being modified by all ways to fit that description. We want to show that even muscle cars has what it takes to go sideways professionally...
We have grown allot this past year and planning to compete in many more races/events 2011.
For any questions (sponsorship or others) pls contact our team manager Thomas Jasson tj@teamponydrift.com
Here starts the project build thread of TEAM PONY DRIFT:
Make and Model: Ford Mustang GT
Year: 1987
Engine Type: 302 5.0L V8
Torque: 440 Nm
Suspension: Pro modified
Wheel Base: 2553 mm
Width: 1755 mm
Height: 1323 mm
Horsepower: 260+ bhp
Transmission: 5 speed manual
Weight: 1350 kg
Why drift a Mustang? Well, why not!
We chose the Fox body platform because we wanted to stick out from the crowd and the V8 GT because we are V8 fans and we knew the torquiness of 408+ Nm would serve the driver well. We already had good vibes about muscle cars and felt comfortable with that it is durable and the simple structure of the 3rd generations Mustang platform that wont break down as quick as other cars.
We started modifying the car with things we knew would be necessary and eventually picked up the mood we wanted the car to go for. While doing so want to maintain its integrity to be drift car.
Items and mods done:
2 Sparco Sprint seats
Netami 4-Point Cam Lock Seat Belt Harness
A/C delete kit
Triple chromed valve covers - FORD RACING

Mishimoto radiator - AMERICAN MUSCLE
3.73 gears - AMERICAN MUSCLE
2x2.5" exhaust
Side pipes

Luisi hub
Momo Drift- deep dish 30mm
Fire extinguisher
SN-95 A-arm
Shortened spindels by 3cm for more angle
2-point lower chassis brace
Welded diff
Spacers 30mm
Panhard bar - Maximum Motorsports
Adjustable coil over kit - Maximum Motorsports
Caster-camber plates - Maximum Motorsports
XL subframes - Maximum Motorsports
Bilsteins shocks and struts - Maximum Motorsports
Roll cage (winter 2011)
Hydraulic E-brake (winter 2011)
Steeda Clutch Adjuster Kit (winter 2011)
New color (winter 2011)
Last year 2010 we took weight reduction and suspension to a serious professional extent. That involved a more stripped interior. There's only so many things you can do though, and with a stock weight of 1590kg it's not exactly a ballet dancer. For the remainder of the suspension we want to switch to MM A-arms to get that killer steering angle that the fox body lacks, but we working on new mods all the time. Winter 2011 we will add a hydraulic handbrake and full roll cage with wider fenders, custom made wing and other goodies.
