Firstly thanks to Ant for answering my call for tyres and meeting me at the M1 tonight.

Unfortunatly, no sooner had I left than I had a massive blow out a couple of miles down the road.

Was going along fine in the outside lane, and all of a sudden shhiiiiiiiitttttt! I thought the wheel had come started to fall off, but obviously this isnt the case. Also scary is despite the fact my car was all over the place and I put hazards on people wouldnt let me over to the hard shoulder and were just undertaking and stuff - got there in the end. Only 1/2 mile from next exit, so just crawled it along and stopped in a garare.

The inside of the tyre half way up has totally ripped apart for about 1/4 way round. Had to get someone to come all the way from Crawley to bring me wheels to get home on  . Just made it now6.5 hours after I left to meet Ant. Knackered.

A little concerned at whats happened to the tyre. If it hit debris id be happy but im worried something else may have cut into it as I have only had the rims on a couple of days. Wasnt rubbing or anything though (but I did hear it rub as it went which Im hoping was an after effect and not a cause).

Anyway, after all the effort im back where I started needed tyres now  At least I kept it out the wall I suppose. Will put up a pic of the tyre tomorrow night.

fuck dude  I dread the day I have a blowout, the only thing that makes me feel a little more comfortable is the fact i run quite low profile tyres so havne't got that far to drop...

had the wheels/tyres been sitting for long before you put them on the car?

The tyre was fitted Tuesday night, and whilst it wasnt new as I bought it from someone it had hardly any mileage on it at all and looked brand new.

And just to clarify it wasnt the one that I posted about the other night that was losing air - I have been keeping an eye on that side and it was the other one which went :wack:

looks nasty mate, hope you didn't do any other damage to your car or self..

Im cool, and I assume the cars fine as I drove that home too after waiting a couple of hours for someone to get me some wheels to put on it :wack:

Its just playing on my mind a bit as to it being related to running on the different wheels as I havnt used them before. As said it wasnt rubbing, and had been fine but its in my mind. And I remember telling ant Just before this happened how it was really oversteery too compared to standard wheels so thats playing on my mind as well as maybe something to do with it.

fuck man that some bad shit, slap the rubbers on i gave you and you will be all sorted  :)

Theres a chunk of sidewall at the end of the gash totally missing.
