hi there, i saw on ebay some weeks ago the ex - castrol / sumopower Soarer on sale. The car have a 2JZ fitted and a T78 turbo. Dont know if the engine is forged or stock anyway.

Is there anyone on here knows about the actual car condition?

Can't found any informations out there and the car looking like still on sale as the ebay buyer did not take it!

the car is up for sale at around 7,5k is it a good price for it and is it any good for drifting?

Thanks

Originally built by Gren-san. Sponsored by Autoglym, driven by tiff, julian and then buff once it got sold to Ireland...then blew up.

Thanks Mr Bizzle but don't you know if the car was rebuilt after the problem? the guy said the only problem was the management system and fit now a new one. Just afraid to buy a bad car !

To be honest - i don't know the guy who bought it. I just remember hearing the stories. Bad management makes sense but to be honest, if it's fucked - you'll know about it because i heard to blew sky high.

Probably has a new engine. Buff's the one to speakto about that.

Buff is mark luney?

do you know his nickname around here? sorry if that's a silly question :)

Now the car got some DTA management system (dont know them and if they are good?)

thanks bizzle!!

In my opinion DTA is utterly wank - however each to their own.
It had an HKS FCon last time i saw it.

sidewaysbuff is Mark Luney's Driftworks ID.

Ok thank you... i know there was some HKS Fcon fitted but now the car comes with a DTA management :(

will try to get some more informations as a nice specced car like this one can be a bargain for under 7k :) 2jz, good engine, good turbo, cage, and much more!

Honestly, if your getting it at under 7k with a solid engine that's not tired then your onto a winner no matter what the management. I would be seriously tempted to pull out the DTA, fit a standard loom and either an F-Con/Power FC (if you can find one) or if your feeling really flush a Solaris (or whatever they are called now)

The last bid was at 5900GBP so i can surely manage it for 6500!

the guy said the car is in a mint mechanical condition! so i'll have a check but the car is located in northern ireland and that is a really big trip to manage for me as i'm in Switzerland!

That's actually why i asked some questions about. I don't really want to make a 3300km trip for nothing :(

I didnt have the Ebay link atm just the phone number of the guy :)

and i wont let the car for someone else if she's in good condition :D

I understood this was in Scotland - The car will need inspecting as it was built a long time ago, cage regs have changed etc so interested to see what it would cost to make it 2010 compliant, and if its really worth it.

might be better & cheaper to just buy soarer and convert yourself

The engine conversion, if still forged, and turbo and parts would worth more than 6,5k for sure... i know it will maybe not 2010 compliant but the spec of the car still amazing if the car is running good!

the car get a triple plate clutch, 2way, coilovers, arms, anything so im pretty sure that if i would buy a 1K soarer and convert this will cost me much more than modify this one to meet the regulations for 2010!

just really want to be sure about the car !:(

Even if he has to rip out the cage and compleatly re-wire it. It'll NEVER be cheaper to start from scratch and do it yourself.

Sorry dave, that's just silly. A TT manual soarer is £4k on it's own. Let alone with half the mods that this had on it.

And for sure a manual soarer for 4k wont be with a 2JZ fitted :(

but i still dont know what to do. Maybe the car isnt really in good condition and mechanically good too!
