A couple Saturdays ago my boss asked me if I was free to check out a car. He said to me "It's a bmw and everyone has tried to get it started. It cranks over and over but it will not fire up. If you can get it going it's yours I'll buy it for you".
So after work that Saturday afternoon I went and checked out said BMW.
First I checked to see if it had something to do with the immobiliser which I press a few dozen times, turn the key to start it but just cranked over and over.
So now take a dive under the dash and start to remove screws and the panel under the steering column, just as I'm about to take the panel out my hand hits a toggle switch hidden deep under the dash. My first thought was to to see if the car started, well my first try wasnt lucky as I completely forgot to turn on my jumper pack (rookie move) after i turn the jump pack on i got back in took a deep breath and swung the key and BOOM the m50tu started into life.
Once I got it going. I got it up to the workshop to check fluids, lights, tyre pressure and the normal check overs.
This has to be hands down the best second hand vehicle I've ever onwed period. Even after 20 odd years the perivous owner had stacks of papers and invoices from the bmw dealer workshop. The over all condition is just amazing and still handles like it drove straight out of the 90's (I'm a 90's kid)
I do however have a few issuses to address but thats for now anyway.
Im keeping to my trusted three word rule. Make it Simple. Build it Relieble and have Fun doing all this.
This weekend I'm hitting up zebra car yard for E46 LCA's, track down offset lolliepops, Scout out for E90 inner rack ends, and order some driftwork lock adptors and rack spacers.
Manual conversion, weld the diff and coilvers and find some style 30's wheels for drifting. Later this year I'll do the subframe bushes, the reinforcements plates front and rear, for now that's more than enough to keep my busy.
I guess from here the post will just be me posting up parts I've collected and started to get ready for the time to do the swap outs. Ill do before and after pics because I'm pretty sure we've seen this a trillion times here so I'll do my best not to repeat shit ok.
I'm always inspired by everyones builds which gives ideas on where I go with mine. Can't wait to post up more on this build. Not sure if anyone on here is from New Zealand if so churr my bro and to my internation drift family I finally say Hello.
