Tobi's JZX100 Chaser

Manfoot Kerb Magnet
Right, about time I added up some pics and bits of my latest addition I reckon, bought it in September off a guy from Birmingham who previously bought it from Dave of Fuyai Import, wasn't exactly as described in a few ways but as ever that's used drift cars for you..

Had a few issues, mainly suspension/geo related from previous 'offs' and needed some TLC, so decided to focus my attention upon these before giving her too much 'use' ;)

But not knowing anyone who knows anything about JZX's I found myself searching the internet hopelessly before finally being put back in touch with Dave at Fuyai whilst picking up some rims for my Silvia, a few pounds later and a pleasant afternoon out and I was now in posession of some KTS ARB's, KTS Front Camber Arms, a nice fresh subframe (just to be safe and make life easier, turns out old one was fine anyway!!), a nice Profec B Boost Controller and a TRD style Grille (which I've not decided to fit just yet) and the work began..

This is the car when I got it, with my old GTR-D's off my R33 on it, way too low offset for a JZX but..

Got these bought as the fixed seat in the car was WAY too low for me, and I love bride seats, bargain too..

Fitted them, along with a nice new Nardi Wheel care of the guys at Driftworks..

So at least the interior was a nice place to be..

Got the HPI Front Mount kit and fitted that along with a nice fresh Apexi air filter, the writing on the rad is gone now also!!!

Stripped the old Rear subframe off the car as I suspected there may be an issue with it, turns out it was straight but the hub bushes were shot and the camber bolts well past their best..
C30D64F6-5394-4508-BE14-CDBFB085E9ED-1455-000000BF40652589.jpg

So prepped up the new subframe..

Prepped and painted with all the adjustable KTS arms swapped across, also has locking collars and GT1 solid diff mounts on..
BB075D6B-744B-4E21-919C-6F5FBE41D5C0-1455-000000BEEB354EF3.jpg

Now looks like this..

This is how she sits now..

Just trial fitted BN front bumper and new wheels, less manly offset to make more use of the JZX110 Rods and modified knuckles hopefully, the old GTR-D's weren't clearing into the kink of the rod before so this seemed the best option, I also love the look of Torques in white on the chaser, and they're a more sensible road alternative to any of my more 'shiny' stuff..
76EC06BA-9BDD-4EC6-BB05-EFA623E8DF8D-1455-000000BEC244EF48.jpg

Got my hubs carriers from my local Toyota dealer who looked after me a treat, really wasn't as painful as I was expecting, also got new drop links all round, new rear wheel bearings and new handbrake shoes, so everything will be fresh as new when re-fitted..
85DDEDA5-0307-4468-B42D-1E55120D8293-1455-000000C1032A0804.jpg

And we're planning to modify the rear subframe, modifying the camber bolt mounts and using a fixed bolt through a centralised hole as opposed to the elongated ones for camber bolts, so all adjustment is done from the arms with no interference, should give a more equal geo setup when done..
Then just this little beauty to fit, so can disable the TCS and ABS properly and not have my driving interfered with!!

And that's pretty much how things stand right now, will try my best to keep updated, in fact have a few additions already but waiting for damn photobucket to let me upload more pictures :wack:

tidy mate, keep seeing this on the odd FB photos, i want to drive a 100 see how they compare to a 90 someday, keep it up

Right, few updates now photobucket has finished doing its thing..

Got the new hubs built up with new bearings and handbrake shoes..
AD98F33E-3D67-40EA-B057-0515883F43FC-1547-000000F5FCDBB24B.jpg

Then stripped the subframe down again as I decided to get rid of the camber adjusting bolts, no point having 2 points of adjustment for rear camber and hopefully avoids the issue of them giving me grief in the future..
24763C40-D905-4F9B-9E38-88DD26C3E16F-1547-000000F59E95B692.jpg

So will give another lick of paint and get built back up soon..
D5BF7B5F-BDDE-415E-8C74-241CB80D8630-1547-000000F564970328.jpg

Got some shiny new droplinks to go with the KTS anti roll bars, so hopefully she's going to feel a lot tighter when done..
673A6C0C-1406-41FE-B278-0B948C235C67-1547-000000F5CC222963.jpg

Test fitted the Profec B and got wiring/pipework in place..
FFAFD9DB-C6EB-4E3C-9B98-4CBD13EA0220-1547-000000F5BF60F8CD.jpg

The just a little more playing around with the front bumper and that's how things stand right now, should be back on the road next week ready for a Christmas Day afternoon drive on some nice quiet roads..

NICE! :( I miss my one :( :( :( Where did you get the front bumper from? WE NEED TO ORGANISE A JZX MEET NEXT YEAR! I'll head south or something if someone organises a drift day for 4 doors.

Hey Fella, JZX meet sounds like a great idea, the bumper came from Leon at EP Racing, I know you hear mixed reviews about their kit but genuinely the fit on this is about as good as a budget FRP kit gets, and the old Car Modify Wonder kit is getting past its best..

Was my mates old Chaser, sweet car it was! i would of kept the modify wonder front bumper on myself. Still got the straight pipe on it ? was extremely loud haha but sounded mad!

I'm going to try and save the front bumper if possible but thought a spare/replacement wouldn't hurt, also replacing/modifying the exhaust as its not perfect but as you say very loud!!

IF your mate is the same guy I bought it from then he'd be the same guy that still owes me a pair of rear hubs for it and has decided to do a disappearing act without sending me them, tell him thanks :wack:

Oh yeah the bumper did have a few cracks and such from what i remember, id say just get a backbox fitted to the system as its tucked pretty high up isnt it? as it was a custom made catback. Well i dont seem him often at all really but when i do ill ask.

This is looking awesome. there needs to be more of these in th UK, maybe a few 110's as well ;)

Two Toby's with JZX's it's meant to be :D

Where are you based?

Looking really good. Are the KTS ARB's not adjustable then? I have a set of Ultra Racing ones on order check my thread when you get 5:

http://www.driftworks.com/forum/dri...e-i-must-not-spend-loads-drift-project-5.html

Like what is going on towards the rear, where did you get the GT1 solid mounts? I've been looking at the KTS range for arms, where did you order from? Can you list what you have replaced as well. Much cheaper than the likes or Ikeya, maybe not as good quality (going from pics I haven't compared like for like) but more realistically priced. I've been getting my front sorted, about to delve onto the rear!

What's that little contraption to remove TCS and ABS? I just removed the TCM fuse. Also junking all of my ABS lines but not sure what you plans are. Are you still running Aircon as well, mine is now gone thanks to Andy.

Anyhow nice car look forward to seeing the progress, it's not easy researching so having someone else with a similar car is a good thing.

Hey dude, good to hear im not the only one!!!

In answer to your questions..

Where are you based?

Lincolnshire

Looking really good. Are the KTS ARB's not adjustable then?

Non adjustable ARB's but apparently the best ones out there, something like 200% stiffer than OE

Like what is going on towards the rear, where did you get the GT1 solid mounts?

Mounts were on the car but Dave at Fuyai Import can probably source you some.

I've been looking at the KTS range for arms, where did you order from?

Again, already there when i got it but Dave can help, his username is Davisyip

Can you list what you have replaced as well?

The car has all six rear arms (KTS)
New OE Hub carriers (needed bushes and can't buy separately)
New OE Droplinks
JZX110 Tension Rods
Modified Hub Knuckles
KTS Front Pillowball Camber Arms
KTS Steering Rods

What's that little contraption to remove TCS and ABS?

It's a JZ Factory kit that turns off TCS and ABS at the touch of a button, without confusing any of the electrical systems, the car gets driven on the road in all weathers and sometimes having TRC or ABS is not a bad thing.

You still running Aircon as well, mine is now gone thanks to Andy.

Still running and icy cold, should be good for summer, this is my comfortable skidder!!

Anyhow nice car look forward to seeing the progress, it's not easy researching so having someone else with a similar car is a good thing..

Likewise mate :)

Awesome car man.. Really like what you've done with the rear subframe and components.. Iv been planning same sort of thing with welding the plates in to make the elongated holes into normal fixed holes.. Also going to run simulations and look into moving the possisioning of some of the arms and bars etc..
What's the quality of the kts components like? Are the ball joints good ones?

New OE Hub carriers (needed bushes and can't buy separately)

Measure the exact size and length of the bush, and note the size of hole required for the bolt..
Then call up SuperPro bushes, these dudes are awesome and will sort you out.. Tell them what they are for and they can add them to their list of parts:thumbs:
I also suggest you buy a pair of SuperPro Tention Rod Bushes, they do offset one to bump the caster forward, I expect your 110 rods have near fucked bushes if they are secondhand?

where did you get the GT1 solid mounts?
Adjustable arb bla bla bla...

Iv got a batch being made, of solid diff mounts, subframe mounts, etc CNC machined, hoping they will be done this side of xmas..

You can adjust the arb with different length drop links.. Primitive, but effective... Wouldnt take long to swap them over for different tracks etc..

Cheers Tobes.

On the front you mention KTS steering arms, which are these?

I have seen people with KTS camber arms for JZX but can't see them listed on their site, nor steering arms:

KTS-web

They only list adj tension rods for our cars on their site, must have other bits not listed, bit strange...

@ Dale good re mounts

And Ultra Racing and Cusco ARB's are adjustable, 3 holes so you can go from hard to harder.

Do any of you guys have spare adjustable arms / arbs? If so lemme know! My bus needs um.

Cheers Tobes.

Sorry dude, meant just the ends, not full arms..

Thanks Man, can't really take much credit for the work itself as it's pretty much been done for me save for the prepping and a few little jobs, a friend of mine is really into his custom fabrication and was more than happy to do it.. In fact it's all re-assembled now and looks like this..

Bit more progress, I have to say a massive thank you to a few friends who decided to sort out the re-fitting of the subframe in my absence, returned to the workshop to find everything looking like this..

Just a few smaller jobs to finish now then it's ready to get the geo done..
