I am looking at buying new tyres for drift setup i dont have huge amounts of power there is so much conflicting information and its doing my head in im not going to go and spend £100 a tyre on the wrong tyres

Its a bmw on 17" alloys so far ive been told there to big and need to go smaller some say the opposite . But how wide or narrow should i be going and what sizes to i wanted to change the front two to decent tyres with loads of grip but some people are saying its the wrong thing to do WHAT SHOULD I BUY ? Atm it has 17/45/215 should i just buy smaller alloys all round like 15" or just forget the whole idea and sell the car and save the head ache

Try different sizes and see what you feel? 205/40/17 felt good on my old one, so did 195/45/16 and 195/50/15. 17s felt snatchier but in a good way, depends on your driving style really. BMW wheels are cheap and plentiful, only way you're gonna find out what suits you is by trying different stuff. I wouldn't bother with anything wider than a 225 though personally.

205s will be fine, also rovellos are pretty good grippy tyres for the price, liek 30 quid a tyre new and lasted well.

205/40/17 for the front and 195/50/15 for the rear as it's a 316 with no power lots of pressure will be needed in the rear tyres.

You questions were answered in the other thread though.

Have you been to a drift day and seen what people run?....

Everybody is different all a matter of preference, with enough playing with pressures you can make a tyre as grippy or slippy as you like to an extent
