URGENT - Plenum Help + Catch Tank s14a

hi guys

bit of a random one, i have bought a polished plenum and it has the breather whole from the rear of the rocker cover tapped off and sealed, and a new hole welded and tapped at the top of it.. i have the car in pieces now and am wondering what the hell to do with the pipes now as i didnt realise this had had the hole sealed on the rear side.. (check pics)

i have just purchased a catch tank as well and am wondering about where to plumb it in and wether having it run to atmosphere is good or bad for sr20's,
I am wanting to plumb in the catch tank, but also wondering if there will be any issues now i have the hole plugged and relocated to the top of the plenum..

also here is a pic of the new polished one, and the hole is in the centre at the top

and the 2nd pic the pipe under the 65f writing is where the polished one has the pipe removed and sealed...

3rd pic is of the new catch tank

really confused.. please help or advise as to what to do?

soooooooooooooooo................

after reading the sxoc forum am i correct in assuming that i can plug the whole at the top of the plenum.. and then just VTA and run the catch can off the rear of the rocker cover where it used to connect to the plenum, as the connection to the bottom of the plenum from the rocker cover is welded shut

is this ok to do ????

:)

this is the pipe i was talking about at the back where i was going to run the catch can off.. and where the plenum is blocked off now

i have seen so many plumbed from the circled in white pipe

but as i hav no way of connecting the yellow/green ms-paint looped hose to anything other than the rocker cover it comes off of, was hoping that it would be ok to run it off that pipe instead of the white circled pipe

Most catch tanks are run from the white circled side of the rocker cover. IIRC the green circled area has a valve in the exit of the rocker cover which , coupled with it having less space for the catch tank, may be why people don't use that side?

ok man thanks for the reply.. the prob is i have no where to plumb that top left (green circled) pipe to now as the guy who formerly owned my plenum has had it sealed. i was gotta put the catch tank where the nissan alarm speaker is at the top left of the engine bay (when standing at the nose of the car)

so if i fit the catch tank to the white circled tube, and block the other end of the tube off ?? (heading down towards the bottom of the engine bay)

what do i then do with my random redundant tube at the rear top left of the block (green circled one)

sorry if this is confusing and sorry for being a total noob on this, but i have been searching all day on this on the forum and DW and places and cant find anything bout that green circled hose

BBB maybe correct, why dont you just stick a little filter on the end of it, and plumb you catch can in on the white circle job done, My guesse is the reason the previous owner had the plenum hole filled in as fumes from the cam cover oil etc going into your intake can cause detonation so alof of people do away with the breather goin to the plenum

cheers fella much appreciated

ideally you'll want both green and white circled vents to go to the catch can, then catch can to vent to atmo or recirc back in

thanks man

if the pics make sense this is what we have done at the moment-->>

spoken to a few of the perfomance places in the precinct and they know about the valve in the rocker cover top left, but have said that it should be fine how it is set up

opinions welcomed :)
