Saturday April 14th was the first round of the 2014 Midwest Drift Union series here in USA. This Formula D ProAM feeder series features the best talent in the Midwestern USA vying for spots in the newly formed Formula D Pro2 series (formerly they were vying for a license directly into Formula D). A couple highlights:

Several big dirt drops made for impressive photos as some racers went hard on one of the biggest and fastest drift tracks that most drivers will see in their careers.

Brian Peter defeated Rolando Alfaro to win the event.

Phenom David Mesker was smoking tires all day.

It should be exciting, I missed the inaugural event last year due to a schedule conflict, but I'll be there this year. While not unique, street course drifting is a relative rarity at least here in the states so it will be cool to see it in person (and get that close for shooting)

I do not miss living in saint louis at all, I couldn't even walk to blocks without someone asking me to buy a sack or "what you bang" haha glad my mom decided to move back to the military base in Illinois after a while, the 35min drive was not worth saving money for cheaper housing

Yeah I generally don't hang out in STL other than the Casino/waterfront area or the North/airport area on the MO side of the river. The track is actually in Madison (which is a truck stop and Gateway Motorsports Park and an industrial smelting estate as far as the eye can see outside of that) which required at one time a drive through parts of East Saint or similarly impoverished IL side towns. Now it's got it's own freeway exit and I typically stay in Fairview Heights which is a shopping mall with a town name attached, but seems pretty safe. I will say the Arch is a thing to behold though, even from Malcolm Martin park which is in East St. Louis and is a scary place to drive to, but a nice (and usually desolate) little overlook for the arch:
