Hi dudes, Anybody got any opinions on whether a 2002 w203 c200k semi auto would be any good for a daily drifter?

Semi auto would be a bit shit has that year not got TC that can't be turned off? That would make things difficult.

I read somewhere that the driver aids can be turned off by entering dyno mode or something? There seems to be some people who drift the manual version, but would the semi auto be any good at all for the odd empty big round about followed by a big sweeping corner?, there's a few good'ns round my way

I've never had any experience with drifting a semi auto, I'd love to hear from any dudes out there that have any

TBF I know Stav had a C230K and rated it, but I also know that nearly everyone on this board either owns a BMW or has owned one at some point, that parts are dirt cheap, support is everywhere and as a beginner car I wouldnt look anywhere else :)

Take those points on board, cheers mate :)

The reason I went for the c200k over a 3 series is because I had e46 318i/certain 318ci's/320d's to choose from, and I thought I was making a better choice choosing a boosted petrol over a bmw 2.0 lump that has been plagued with bad reviews over the variable valve cams or the dual vanos or something? And the somewhat notorious swirl flaps on the 320d?? Also the low amount of tuning available. Seems like I might have made an error in judgement tho haha

If you want e46 then go for a 330ci if you not so bothered on age then go for e36 as you wont care so much when you crash...which you will. Also parts are cheap and easy to get and there is alot of cheap mods you can do.

An E36 328i with M50 manifold is difficult to beat IMO - cheap, pretty reliable, no VANOS to worry about and replacement bits are easy to get hold of :)

they are also not lacking in power which is always a good thing ;)

I had seriously considered a 330d but, for now, my insurance on any other model than what I mentioned is not do-able for a daily until November when my insurance becomes more realistic.. Which sucks because I've seen loads of nice coupes for cheap!. The e36 prospect is certainly something I have considered for a missile car. But, after the encouraging words I've heard, maybe a e46 coupe might make the cut as the daily in Nov! :)

328 E36 has single vanos - on the intake cam, but it normally doesn't make problems. For the rest you're right.

C200Ks are like 180bhp, and that through a semi-auto will be wank.

My C230K was manual and a good 50bhp more. That was awesome. Tons better than the usual E36s etc.

W203s look great, but a C200k auto will be a bit gutless. I'd have a bigger engine BM over that from a drift point of view.

Cheers for sharing your experience with a c class dude,

If it transpired that it wouldn't actually be that bad for the occasional skid, I was planning fmic, exhaust and induction upgrade along with a map to get around 70bhp ish more.
When I get a full on drifter, I'll defo be getting another s13.. Love that car.

yeah mate its laggy. sometimes i knock it up gear and it doesnt change up so then i try change up again and then it will go up 2 gears lol. could just be my car been shit tho lol.

Really that bad mate? Shit haha.. The merc doesn't seem like such a good plan for an occasional skidder after all, ohh well :)

It is a good idea... Just don't get an auto. Exactly the same could be said for all the aforementioned bmws in auto form
