Wasted Spark kit

Ed

Anti-Dibs
Hi guys,

I really need to try and sort my misfire, and it appears the 2nd hand coilpacks I bought have gone walkabout in the post.

how quickly can you get a wasted spark kit to me? By the weekend?

I wont have interenet access until saturday now, and cant call 0845 numbers from my PAYG mobile, so any chance you could call me on 07799 767268 either before 7am ( :wack: ) or around 10:15-10:30ish?

Cheers,
Ed

What? Why? I always put it on my for sale threads, ebay eds, autotrader ads etc

What difference does it make?

Arrived, and will be fitted tomorrow  Although the whambar has been eaten already.

Fitted, but still misfires (but not as much)

I seem to remember the instructions said what to look for if it was still misfiring, but I now cant find them :(

And what do you do with the 2 earths that come out of the 3 pin plug, the one with the chunky white power cable in??

One of the "earths" is an earth, one is the loop wire for cylinder 1... :) Might be contributing to the problem if it's wired up wrong.

Otherwise, make sure your spark plugs are fresh and gapped correctly, and if the problem persists then wire the coil to a permenant 12v from the battery/alternator circuit instead of the coil 12v, you'll get stronger voltage going direct rather than through the ecu/ignition circuit.

It wasn't the loop for the timing light, thats on the set of wires from the ignitor??

The 3 wires coming out of the plug (2 black 1 white) were covered, with no access for a timing connection (and no loop) Although it did run to cyl 1 eventually

What should that be connected to? as atm its just loose, as the instrucions made no reference to it :(

if you have a black wire that runs to cylinder 1, that's the timing loop. Don't earth that one

But its not the one that was looped? (or maybe not directly anyway, will check tomorrow)

Where should it go then?

When you strip the wiring back you'd see it goes to cyl 1 signal wire, it's the loop back to the 3 pin plug. It needs to be connected to cyl 1 signal wire, the instructions don't say anything about where it goes because they don't say to cut it, it should stay connected to the cyl 1 trigger wire.

The earth from the 3 pin plug should really remain connected to the earth wire from the other plug, again you're not really supposed to cut it off in the first place, just connect it back up and earth it on the head as standard. The earths to the coils are the ones you just snip at the splice.

Cheers Bon  We just tied it up outta the way, so I will connect it back up to cyl1 signal wire tomorrow :)

Have you got any diagrams of what it SHOULD look like

That would be damn handy
