Im still at school so getting money together isnt the easiest thing to do in the world:no:
What would be the best car to buy to get into tramp drifting cheap, considering reliability and costs involved in upgrades, Thanks for any advice been thinking of omegas, volvos, e36's and sierra's anybody prefer one of these over the other?

get a v8 prius they did a rwd version and getting very cheap these days came with 900bhp standard. or you could just look on the web for ''cheap drift car'' theres a magical place called gumtree in the city of ebay look for a man called "search" he will help you on your quest

Just go for a E36 plenty of them around for cheap and there's more after market parts available compared to the others than you have mentioned.

Peugeot 205, lift-off oversteer everywhere. Seriously though if you're still at school you can kiss goodbye to an e36 or a sierra as you simply wont get insured. The volvo is probably your best bet, and even then you'll pay huge insurance premiums due to your age. And again once you start modding it they'll just refuse to insure you.

Assuming you can get insurance sorted, maintenance costs are always going to bite you. Get friendly with a tyre shop and that should get you tyres for drift days, but you'll still need to buy decent tyres for road driving. Also I imagine any tramp drifter you get will need a bit of an overhaul mechanically so budget for all the service gear just for reliable motoring, that'll include the cambelt and tensioner.

Welcome to the world of dorifto btw, even when it's cheap it's expensive.

im not for insuring the car its just for the track, ive already had a 328 e36 but was just wondering as far as your experiences go which car tends to be the most reliable as im buying another. Been told not to get another e36 although they are cheap they have reliability issues?

my friend just past on a yaris £3800 third party

If it's purely a track car remember you're gonna need a decent towing car and trailer to get the car around, and depending on the total weight of the towing car, the drift car and the trailer you could need to take further tests for your license, read this for more info https://www.gov.uk/towing-with-car/driving-licence-rules-and-what-you-can-tow

Also do some research in to how the events are run before you turn up, a fair few events require your car to be fully road legal (i.e. tax, mot, insurance), Retro Rides as Prescott hill climb is a prime example.
