What EBC should I get, RB20DET

Commie bastard
Hey guys!

I have a fairly stock RB20DET with walbro/exhaust/decat/fmic etc, current boost levels are 0.75 tops on a straight line and 0.65-0.68 mid-drift (I guess so, didn't really noticed). I want to raise the boost a little and don't really like an idea of a manual boost controller, can you advise a budget (read: cheap) boost controller for me? Ideally it should hold a desired boost level, be simple to set up and give a constant boost setting, i.e. it won't overboost at different weather etc.

The options are:
Apexi AVC-R (this one http://www.sau.com.au/forums/uploads/post-14595-1131760623.jpg )
HKS EVC 3
Blitz Twin SBC/SSBC (too basic?)
Possibly GREDDY Profec b-spec 2

Which one of them won't fry my shit and would be a daily choice?

I was using a Gizzmo IBC unit (boost only) and it was perfect.. Cheap too.. I now have my Link G4 controlling the boost and kept the gizmo for reference

I used hks evc4 on my rb20det but have now upgraded to greddy OLED, have my evc4 up for sale if your interested £150 delivered to uk

I'm currently on the fence about HKS EVC-3 vs Greddy Profec B-SPEC 2. Is it worth paying a little extra for Profec?

I wouldn't call the profec particually easy to setup, nor will it hold a desired boost level regardless of outside temperature.
It does have a hi and lo mode which you could switch between I guess.

Crap. I've read the manual and yeah, you're right about it being a little complicated. Is HKS EVC-3 any better?

Don't expect it to last long if you go over 1bar.

To be honest, if you want cheap i would grab an adjustable HKS actuator. Cheap, reliable and just takes a couple of runs to setup.

not a fan of profec b. Overly complicated to set up and ive seen quite a few of both the controllers and the solenoids fail

I'm thinking about doing 0.9bar.

Wil look into HKS actuator, but main candidate now is HKS EVC-3.
