I have a set of ssr viennas with a chrome face but the chrome Is starting to peel, what's the best option, rechrome, get them machined or try strip back and polish

Rechroming is expensive. Are they 2/3 piece or are centres welded in?

Cheapest option if the centres can be unbolted is to remove them, get the chrome removed (acid dipped is best) then powder coated. Otherwise you can buy a polishing attachment for a drill or grinder and polish them up yourself, then look to get them clear-coated. I say acid dip as sand blasting creates a rougher surface and requires a lot more sanding before polishing or recoating.

If the centres are welded in then it's a huge PITA. You pretty much have to get the whole wheel stripped (costs more) and then it's waaaay harder to polish. I'd then just paint the centres and polish the lips, then clear coat the whole lot.

They are 3 piece wheels, he ive heard it's expensive but I haven't got any prices yet for the chrome, I was trying to keep getting them powder coated at the last option or maybe even go for a hyper silver, I wouldn't be big into coloured wheels
I might look into polishing the faces a bit more and see if I can find someone who's done it before
Thanks for the help

No worries, have been down this rabbit hole too many times!

Tbh getting the powder coated silver & clear coated would be the cheapest and easiest of the lot, and look pretty good too

The only thing with powder coating is after you've stripped the faces, sand them right through to a 600 grit as a minimum. I've powder coated way too many wheels and regretted not getting the surface smoother before coating

Ye I probably will end up getting powder coated silver just so it's quick and easy, polishing the faces might involve too much work, I'll see once they're stripped back
Thanks again for the help
