Wrapping over primer!

So I need some advice, I didn’t know where else to post this questions so hopefully it’s ok here. So I am finally at the point whe I can start working on the cosmetics of my car, so I decided to try an dive in a wrap my car, I have a whole roll of wrap, all the tools and things I’ll need to do it but the issue I am having is my car is primered and I’ve seen people say yes I can wrap over primer and others say it’s really difficult, now I was thinking if I just clear coat over the primer that may solve my problems but also I have no idea‍♀️ so if anyone has any advice it would be super appreciated!

you can,although

The main issue you will come across is when placing the wrap on the car and repositioning it, the primer attaches to the wrap and the wrap is no longer sticky.
(some wraps you can see the primer through it).
For a small areas you might be ok, as you can (depending on how good you are at wrapping?) attach without having to reposition, but when doing a whole car you will need to reposition multiple times and apply some lube (soapy water) to the surface.

Use a primer sealer to help minimise the dust transfer, this might help a bit but not totally. As epoxy primer sucks up moisture big time and you don't want that trapped behind the wrap rusting out the panel.

Before wrapping any surface painted or primed make sure you clean the surface thoroughly
(clay bar is a good starting point after the car is clean)
Degrease and then use an automotive tak-rag to get as much debris off - that might help reduce primer dust pickup, but would need to be done regardless the surface type.

Good luck

Ok thank you! I’ll make sure I get tak rags, clay bar and seal the primer and make sure the surface is as clean as possible before hand, thank you!
