1.5JZ S14 Silvia

the full floor was treated to anti rust converter paint, red oxide, seam sealer, gravitex stonechip then black enamel ontop

the subframe was refreshed with the sr autobodies bolt kit and new bushes and a tidy up

new brake and fuel lines made up

i didn't take as many pics as i'd have liked because it was working at 100mph, at least i didn't have rust to deal with, the joys of a clean import

this was not the time for a professional resto job, i was just looking to keep it tidied up and perfectly usable

also managed to get the inside done in red oxide, then black ontop

then back on the trailer and home to wait for the 1jz to arrive from jdm distro, at this point i'd been waiting 10 months or something for the engine to arrive, spare stock bonnet back on and the oem cable and latch assembly working too!

eventually after a 1 year wait, the engine arrived and it was pants

looks like someone has been handy with the red silicone sealer

so after some various checks and a few phone calls to jdm distro, it turned into this

so much for my simple idea of throwing a stock 1j in and just driving the car again

the turbo was full of water probably from rain water or something

i gave the bottom end a clean up, didn't touch rings or bearings

just painted everything, new seals everywhere, new silicone sealer, new oil pump o rings inc the pressure relief spring o ring, new toyota water pump (not fitted in the pic)

the head went to a machine shop and was fully rebuilt, the valves were all badly covered in carbon and not sealing on the valve seats, all of them were recut, valves cleaned etc, re shimmed etc, pressure checked, skimmed, acid tanked etc

got bored so decided to do a new engine build since i had a fully sorted chassis that was very capable of handling more power

bought a load of new parts for the build, going 1.5jz so a 2jz block and 1jz head

did you buy a 2JZ-GE converted it to a GTE? Was it difficult?
