106 GTi

Fredericks Balls

Sedan Life
1998 Peugeot 106GTI 1.6 16V
Diablo Red
71K miles

Belts changed at 61K miles
3 fairly new tyres and 1 half worn
A/M Peco backbox
Clifford Alarm with proximity sensor
306 GTI alloys

I have done quite a bit of work to this car over the past 4 months, in bits and bobs, as I'm not using the car anymore.

Gearbox replaced with unit from '03 GTI (175 pounds sterling)
Starter motor replaced from same (35 pounds sterling)
Power Steering pump replaced (€75)
Recent Service
Fuel filter replaced
Plugs replaced today
Map Sensor replaced with second hand unit (€30)

The following parts have been replaced with genuine peugeot parts:
ICV Stepper motor (€140)
Crank/Flywheel Sensor (€80)
Lambda Sensor (€140)

It had an issue with idling so i played it safe and basically replaced all sensors, and it's running fine now. Gearbox has no notchy-ness at all, rear axle feels grand too, I will try and blead the brakes to freshen them up if I get a chance this week.

The car stands me well over €4000 but I am asking €3750 but I will listen to any offers, as I said its just gathering dust now :(

The car is currently on English reg plates, VRT is €314

Thanks :dw:

Oh dear. FWD and French , your not allowed to advertise these on DW pal, sorry.

These are great cars, absolute hoot to blat about in.

Don't think it's really on, saying stuff like that on someone's For Sale thread. If you don't like it, your opinion. Doesn't mean someone else won't like it.

i remember seeing top gear or something when they got loads of cars out on a track and clarkson rated the 106 gti over a gto/3000gt twin turbo

think it's Apocalypse Clarkson where him, Tim Harvey and Richard Burns take out 10 cars and see which handle the best. iirc 106 comes top, if not very high.

I like 106 GTi's  And the 306 "cyclone" wheels should have ben standard fit IMO.

Needs to be decked though

wow this threads been busy

Bolf & 2 stroke: good girls thanks for the input:smash:

Yea I remember seeing it being tested and Clarkson said it was the second best handling car he'd ever driven up to that point, beaten only by the latest Ferrari. It does handle brilliantly, but I only got it to fill a four week gap back in January/February and since i've just been slowly doing the bits to it when I had time. If I did keep it the cyclones would be black and it would be decked for sure.

Thanks

Bump from the dead, I forgot I put it here. I have a new coilpack (€250) and battery to go in on Monday. Hasnt done more than 6 miles since July, I really need this to go, price is now €2000 which is a bargain IMO. Car is in Dublin still. If anyone in the south knows of anybody looking for one i'd be greatful if you could point them in this direction.

Still needs VRT'ing which is €640

Thanks

Brilliant cars If i had some money to make this my fourth one, but sadly I dont . Good price good looking car, good luck with the sale :)

Wicked cars...

anyone that doesnt slates them but has never driven one is a queer, lifestyler, car nazi!!! Harsh words but true..

An absolutely excellent handling car and in the hand of somone that can actually drive, capable of some sweet slidage.. Good luck with the sale mate!

i completely underestimated these until i took my mates one out for a blast. really good laugh, way quicker than they look and crazy handling!

On the lanes, this little car with a half decent driver would dick over most of the weeners on here, regardless of thier S and R bodies.

mate had one the same colour was a right hoot if im honest could get you into and out of a lot of trouble in the lanes whilst making you feel like the new colin mcray (rip)

good luck with the sale

Thanks lads, it is quick! They are very confidence inspiring in the corners, cos they handle much better than you'd think. The only weakness I think they have is the brakes arent really as good as they could be for the car, but most "hot-hatches" of the 90's were like that.

And yes, its the same chassis as the saxo, and the engine is the same too which can be handy for getting parts.
