well, went to cambridge somewhere yesterday. didnt sell, used £35 fuel one way,the chap gave me £25 for the trouble! 45 quid outta pocket
I wasnt going to post on here mate, but since you are making me out to be some kind of timewaster I will.
Yeah, he came over last night - the bodywork on the car was better than I thought, it sounds lovely and the underneath is solid. Yer man had a sale right there - I had the money in my pocket and was ready to go.
Took the car out for a drive and noticed he wasnt going too quickly, so got in and drove myself. Few "slight" points:
Theres about 3/4 of a lock from dead centre before the wheels actually start turning. I could probably overlook this but coupled with .......
One of the front brake calipers has no effect at all. You tap the brakes and the car veers well onto the other side of the road - you would steer round it, but seeing as it takes about 0.5 seconds of turning before it does anything, its fcuking lethal - heaven forbid something pulls out and you have to do an emergency stop
The worst bit was the engine though - he followed me back to the A14 and in my N/A Saab 9000 I had to keep slowing down so he could keep up. The car boosts up to maybe 1/4 of the gauge and then hits a fuel cut - its glacial at the moment. I doubt if it has actually been recently tuned and had the cambelt replaced at all, as no garage would leave it running like that. My friend tried to claim it was overboosting, but it actually has to boost first before it hits the fuel cut - it wasnt even doing that.
Keiran didnt have the MoT certificate either, and seeing as the brakes and the leak from the fuel pump were on the last fail sheet and hadnt been fixed, I wonder if it does actually have MoT at all.
Im sorry mate - I thought you were a top bloke, and really did feel bad about not taking it, but I told you more than once that Id buy it only "if it was as described". A Maserati that cant keep up with a knackered Saab 9000, has the dodgiest steering Ive ever come across (and its not "an Italian thing") and is all over the road every time you brake is not what you described to me.
Im sure it could be a lovely motor if someone put a bit of time in and sorted out the boost and the steering, but I dont have the time or the inclination. I do hope it does sell to someone who will take the time to sort it out, I really do
Its a £600 Maserati at the end of the day
And once again, dont make me out to be the bad guy - I didnt have to give you fcuk all but thought Id give you £25 as you seemed a good bloke - I asked you more than once before you came down if there was anything else wrong with it and you said no. Thats fcuking bullshit and you know it mate, and in fact Id say it was you that wasted
my time
