2.5tt soarer drifty slag (the beginning)

wierdo in what sence wanting to drift soarer/spending so much cash on 200/picking soarer over 200 to drift/having strange attraction to alsation's!

or all of the above?

Hi, Yeah I drift a Soarer :) It is a manual gearboxed one. I looked into buying an auto and converting it - it worked out at about £3k for the conversion. Everything Soarer related is stupid money, so I hope you're not expecting it to be a cheap plaything! Everything is about twice the price of 200sx land.

Diff - weld it or get a plated diff, open diff is bad, torsen diff that was an option is ok to get sideways, but crap for changing direction.

Suspension - stock suspension is shit, coilovers are nice, but most don't come with adjustable top mounts. Camber is a real problem. There is a SMALL amount of adjustment in the stndard setup.

Gearbox - as I said, it costs a lot to convert. MKIII Supra boxes allegedly fit. If you have enough cash then you can make anything fit.

In my limited experience of Auto drifting (a 24valve Senator) its nowhere near as much a hinderance as youd imagine.

Esp as your a learner.

Would be madness to spend a fortune on the car, get good first.

supra bell housing is the same as i understand but shifter in different position? how different does anybody know? am gonna go ahead 200sx now complete so all avaliable cash now being plowed into soarer! you are a very lucky man finding a decent manual we looked at a few soarer's when origionally bought for my girlfriend all the manuals were dog's mind you only managed to find 2 in the country when we were looking!

O.K. changing the subject from conversions does anybody drift an auto 2x people have said it's not as stupid as it sounds, no kick drift but still handbrake & power over action, the thing that botheres me is that the auto box takes more than a little time to respond to your right foot and i consider this as the biggest problem right/wrong?

yank it up till it goes sidewayz then try probably in vein to catch the drift, will this not work in an auto? feck it im gonna find a big bit of empty spce somewhere and give it a crack, if the auto box is as bigger problem as i think it will be i will lump am manual in first! cheers for all your input guy's

i find it strange you would rather smash up a soarer and save an S13
I was wondering that too....

Although the soarer would prob be stronger in bumps and minor crashes...

manual conversion b4 the coilovers.

the manual box will instantly give much more benifit than the coilovers.

being able to clutch kick, and shift lock, is great. and gives you greater flexibility in controlling the car.

i disagree. I'd get the coiovers first. I've seen many auto Lexus's and they do drift. Soarer suspension is supposed to suck hard, so for the price of coilovers comapred to a manual conversion i'd go for stability first.

maybe... i didnt realise a manual conversion would cost £3k lol

thats steap !

im sure ive seen 2.5tt manual supra's on sale for WAY less than that tho. like £1500.

that would have EVERYTHNIG you need.. including a spare engine. so i dunno.. coilovers and manual conversion would cost about the same.

save up and buy both :D:thumbs:

got a 200 dont want 2, also the soarer has so much grunt dont want to spend a fortune getting another 200 up to stage 3, would rather spend cash on manual conversion also want to be a bit different i know a few people do drift soarer's but they are still a fairly rare car! am gonna get a set of coilovers and have a crack. where is the best drift practice day?
