So long time no speak..

After Rockingham I used the car for the last couple of months of summer and then put it away over the winter, hoping to save it from the salt and snow which didn’t really come.

I fancied a change so considered going down to 17” wheels, and bought some Work Equips after selling the T7Rs. This was a grave mistake and I sold them on for a huge loss and went back to 18s but with a less aggressive width/offset combo than the T7Rs.

The car now sits on 18x9.5 ET35 with 30mm spacer (effectively ET5) and 18x10.0 ET22 with a 15mm spacer (effectively ET7).

I’m happy with how the car sits on them and I like the style of wheel, they’re just in poor condition so I’ll be refurbing them over winter I think and building them out to dishy specs!

I also took the car to Hudson’s Speed Shop where I had Nistune fitted. The car was also boost leak tested, had a couple of split hoses replaced, mapped with boost set at 0.9 bar, all for a decent price.

I picked it up and it felt like a different car, and after driving home I discovered that Hudson had actually moved my power steering pump to fix a squeaky belt issue I had been having – without even mentioning it to me! Customer service at its best.

I’d 100% recommend him and his guys and I will be going back again in future.

All I’ve done since is drive the car and try and improve my driving style. I went to Rockingham’s first Meihan layout day in Spring and spent the day trying to go for the fastest, biggest entries I could. Not all of them went as well as I’d hoped but by mid-afternoon I was consistently throwing it in and using all that the standard lock had to give!

Had a bit of an incident where I came in too hot and the standard lock couldn’t save me, so my front bumper and sideskirt smashed into a million pieces. I glassed it all back together and rattle-canned it for now, I’ll be replacing all aero over winter hopefully!

I had some great tandems with Ashley Goodlad and Toby ML as I gained more confidence in the car, now I just feel a little restricted by my lock, so I’ve got some new tie rods and ends and some rack spacers as a starting point.

I also picked up a cheap bride replica through a friend and bought a genuine Takata harness through Adam at 6Two1 as he gave me a great mates rates deal, so I’ll get everything fitted before leaving for Ali’s event StreetTrackLife at Driftland in a couple of weeks time.

I picked up some really nice looking GReddy gauges to replace my original 3 in the centre console, so I can keep an eye on pressures and temps a little more accurately, ideal on my 10 hour journey to Driftland! I also installed an oil cooler at the same time and meshed up the bumper holes to stop any rogue stones smashing the pish out of it.

Current to-do list is install my Takata harness, install my rack spacers and new rods, do a quick refurb on my wheel lips to get rid of the worst of the marks, get an alignment, and I think I’ll wash it and polish what’s left of the paintwork to at least try and make it look clean again.

Will post a few more photos after I've done everything over the weekend!
