27 litre dift car anyone?

How has nobody mentioned the Silvia in the background of some of the pics!? Thought everyone would jump on that one!

They look like Jag XJ220 rims on it too?

I really should have a look at PPC mag, never read it yet

 now thats an engine..!!, will it fit a skyline..?:D

Its more a case of fitting a car to the engine than fitting the engine to a car, methinks :D

And the silvia? Pah, that won't kill nearby small land mammals when you fire it up! :wack:

Ive been following this in PPC mag! Fair play to the dude!

My old man rebuilds Merlin and Griffon Rolls Royce engines as part of his job! The little company he works for has the contract for the Battle Memorial Flight engines! So all the Spitfire/Hurricane and Lancasters you see flying at shows have my dads works engines!
They made a mobile test bed to test the engines after rebuild, on the back of a old fire truck! Standing next to that fucker when the engine is on power is crazy!

The Meteor engine doenst have the supercharger like the Merlins etc! :(

the meteor also uses less "Tuned" parts within, the Merlins were also lighter

Meteor Tank engine from Centurion A meteor 4b

RRMeteor1.jpg

the meteor had a steel block instead of the aluminum block of the merlin, the merlin was made only by Rolls Royce whereas the meteor was built by Rover and Buick

specifications of the Meteor 4B and 4B/1, as fitted to Centurion AVRE as used by British Army untill 1995 with Royal engineers

Bore 5.4"
stroke 6"
comp 7.1
no of cylinders 12 in v configuration (60 deg V)
capacity 27 litres
hp 650@2250
torque 1550lb @ 1600rpm
Twin Zenith updraft carburators
Fuel octane, not less than 80

just had a look in my user handbook...........:wack:

Yeah i know man, as my AE86 features a couple of Merlin/spitfire bolts made from Titanium, with the heads drilled for wire locking! Pimp :smokin:

I've got a Spitfire boost gauge on my desk here, I might have to fit it to the drifty wagon just for coolness's sake. 1944 or something it is :D

Well I know where there are 3 fully reconditioned merlin engines if thats any help :D

Although if you want one might be a bit more expensive that an RB lump

yep thats an ex-military meteor engine, as fitted to centurion, its military as in army because its painted duck egg blue, as per the picture i posted a few posts before.

as can be seen aswell it has the high pressure oil pump fitted to the top of the engine, as per Mk4b

belive me when i say, the sound in that clip, wasnt to different from when you started the tanks up.......

was fookin awsome

one of them were being built on men an motors last year...i didnt watch it though.........but i have a need to here it

AND WHAT THE FECK IS THE ONEVIA S13 DOING IN THE BACKGROUND  :D

Best use of these engines has to be the P51 Mustang racers in America,Tuned Merlins, producing around,oh.............erm.................3000bhp

Stood beside a Spitfire as it was started once, the noise is unreal, not to mention the puff of smoke just before the engine fires and the foot long flames :smokin:

I wonder how long the gearbox will last in that Rover, not to mention what diff he is using :smash:
