£800 to spend.... What's my options?

1.9ti compacts drift fine, put more air in the rear tyres and they can keep up with a 6 pot, as said so many times power isn't everything.

Picked a 323i e36 up today :) It's got a welded Diff and spare open Diff too, Coilovers, big ass cone filter which I will probably sack off and replace with the original box, panel filter and cold air feed :)

Very tidy for an e36. Strong engine, solid gearbox etc etc.

Really looking forward to getting on track and learning to skid ;)

Get that bolt changed to one the right length. Hate to think what's going on with the rest of it just looking at that pic.

I don't understand the bolt thing haha the originals are in the glove box :s

I'll just changed them when I can be bothered. Yea I'm happy it's a cracking motor. Just having a mare getting it MOT'd, the last bloke I wanted to smack In the nose because he didn't have a clue what a drift car, drifting or welded Diff is and refused to do an MOT!

they look like they are the ones people use to get camber but all on the back instead of spacing between the hub and the coilover...

Warn the guy doing the MOT that you have a welded diff - i did hear something about they can cause damage to the break testing equipment or something if they don't know about it - could all be rumours though!

I told him and he refused to test it saying that he couldn't brake test it or check the bearings as the wheels won't rotate independentantly???!!!!!

I said he can do a accelerometer test or tapit test, which he didn't like as I called him on it. Then he said he wouldn't test it because there was no back seats or belts. I said it doesn't have any to which he replied I'd just go home and put them back in. Then his fat mate chirped up and said it will be dangerous on the road and shouldn't be tested anyway.

I told him it doesn’t slide unless you want it too by dumping the clutch. He argued with me at which point I told him to go fudge himself!! Lol

Blatantly have no idea what they are talking about.

Also looking for a suitable LSD as I can't be bothered having to switch all the time.

Just go to another garage, loads of places will pass an mot with a welded diff. Just let them know first.

As previously said, bimmers are a good option like a 323,325 or 330 plus.. Where it would be used for sliding, It doesnt really matter so much on the starting condition, just make sure it's mechanically good!

I opted for an is200 sport as my first Rwd car and haven't looked back since! Awesome fun and only paid £900 (needed a bit of work and is tatty in places).

Mx5's are brilliant fun to drive, whether you're aiming for the apex at high speed or sliding past!
