S13+S15=S28?
After much searching for an uber cheap RS13 I finally bought one last week, and got it delivered a few days ago. 100k, knackered big ends, £375.

The car will not be used as a road car, so tax, MOT and insurance are not a worry. Therefore I can go as far as I want with it.

Mods it had on it from the start are turbo back exhaust (probably will be replaced, since it has a huge silencer in the middle), BOV, a crappy boost guage, rice-tastic rear wing and chav-spec scooby bonnet vent. :euge: So far I have spent a full day on it trying to get the bitch to start, as the engine seems to be running extremely rich, and flooding the cylinders and absolutely soaking the spark plugs. At the moment it seems only one cylinder is starting to fire, and it just wont catch.

Rust wise, It's not actually too bad. Arches at the back only have a little bit on them which is nice and easy to fix and the bootlid is pretty rotten where water has pooled under that rear wing. Strangely the engine bay seems to have a fair bit, but nothing too major.

Right now I am doing things that can be done for free, such as completely stripping it, getting rid of the rear wing, removing the bonnet vent, giving it a damn good clean, sorting out some patches of rust and getting the bitch going. :smash:

Here are some (rather crap) pictures:

I'll take some better pictures when I get my new digital camera tomorrow and when I have some more stuff done.

Hahahahah.
Looks seriously :euge: at the moment, and that spoiler is an abomination, but hey, £375 is £375, look forward to seeing what you do with it :wack:

That is cheap! Fair play!

But why is it called a RS13 and not a S13? (not up to date with nissan knoledge) It looks like a british spec car to me, so i thought all 200sx britisg specs were called S13's!

Yep, wiper and ariel shall be coming off in due course.

I think the RS13 is the pre-facelift 200sx bodyshape. I'm just going by the code on the chassis plate.

Is a PS13 an old style Silvia bodyshape?

Edit: heres some proper info.

Chassis Numbering on S13's
89-91 Silvia: S13 (1.8)
91-93 Silvia PS13 (2.0)
Early 1.8 litre 180SX or 200SX: RS13
Later 2.0 litre 180SX or 200SX: RPS13
1995 onwards 2.0 litre 200SX: PS13 (production along side with S14)

According to this then, it seems that no 200sx's were ever called just an 'S13'.

Found here.

sell the wing on ebay to some nova owner that might give you a bit of free money

good luck with it all

try new plugs as you might have a spark but they might not spark under compreshion

Just to simplify the RS13/S13 thing...

If there's an 'R' at the front then it's a 180/200SX (fastback bodyshape), if there's no 'R', then it's an S13 Silvia. The 'P' denotes SR20DET, if no 'P' then it's a CA18DET.

So...

S13 (CA18DET powered Silvia)
RS13 (CA18DET powered 200SX)

'K' is for HICAS 4WS, etc :)

Liking the gunmetal grey and tinted lenses. (was kinda expecting it to be the light metallic green or faded red) Not so keen on the paris-dakar ride height and halfords spec alloys tho! I suggest you rip the CA clean out and find a wrecked S14. ;)

If only I had the money for one.

I have to make this last me for a while, so I'll get this running first. Once I get all the other bits adressed like rust and interior and when I know its a decent runner, then I might be able to look into an SR20.

And yes, the wheels are terrible! :wack:

As for the suspension, I'm thinking about getting these for now until I can afford some decent coilovers.

Update time!

Basically, I've been a lazy bastard for the last week and had done nothing until today, but its been a good day.

Got it running! Took out the spark plugs and the fuel pump fuse and gave it a crank over for about 60 secs, put in some new plugs and set a proper gap. Then after about 10 seconds of cranking a bit of throttle it fired to life. Only problem now is that it won't idle, I have to keep by foot on the throttle slightly to keep it running or it dies pretty much straight away, but I think that may be due to the weather and a load of crap sitting in the lines. I'll give it a run for a bit tomorrow and get it up to temperature and see what happens.

Also got hold of some new big end bearings, so I'm going to have a crack at changing them tomorrow too, without taking the engine out. Should be fun! :wack:

If the crank looks good and it runs smooth after that, then the fun can start.

Body wise, I have done a small bit of stripping to the boot and also got rid of the rust on the boot lid and prepped the lid for Kurust'ing, filling and painting.

Money spent so far:

Car: £375
Delivery: £140
New battery: £42
New big end bearings: £38
Kurust: £3

Total: £598

cheap car, good luck with it, how much for the spoiler, as my mate likes that kind of thing. if posible delivery to newcastle upon-tyne.

sell the GXE10... as a student don't need to be pimpin round in a lex :)

nice looking colour.... thinking for the amount you've spent you could have bought a runner (high mileage but still) Seen ones go for £500 with T&T

but i guess it won't be much of a project then would it.....

keep the updates coming

I love the confort too much to sell the Lex. Plus this way I can have two extremes - a full on stripped out beast (eventually ;) ) and a comptetely silent and comfortable road car. I'm sure I would get sick of driving around in a drifter after a while.

Yeah, the total cost right now is a bit steep, but I should be able to get the £42 back I spent on the battery as it should have come with one, and if I had had the time to drive it back myself I probably would have done - so thats almost £200 you can knock off the total. Problem was, yes - I could have got a runner for 500 notes, but not one that is close to me - so I still would have had to pay to get it delivered.

As for the spoiler, say about £40? Its in good condition as far as I can see and does fit the car very well, just needs 2 holes drilled through the edges of the boot. I'll look into postage for you. Drop me a PM if you want.
