Anyone into karting??? for sale

the easiest way i drift in my kart is by sticking some old tyres on the back and fast on the gas early into the corner which will swing the back round, then the lightest of moments with steering, it dosnt take a lot to control a drift in a kart, so the slightest of movment will controll it perfect. btw make sure to grip out of the corner, after all karts are made for racing. if your lukily and skillful enough you can feint round the track. but if your not all that good at karting i seriously advise you not to try it.

If you watch a race meeting or even a practice day, you will see that the fastest drivers will actually drift around the corners to go faster, its a common technuiqe with the more experienced drivers. But drifting a kart is very edgy and twitchy and to hold long drifts is a skill that you have to grab round the nec. If you attempt it, then use something that is not a rental kart, rental karts are heavy, solid and slow and only good for renting out and havng a laugh and a bump or two, maybe 3 :D but they wont drift.

I hope ive not bored you with my knowlege

Well to be honest having driven the rental karts at Lakeside I can say that even they drift as well.

There is one section of the track at the end of the start/finish straight which kinks to the right which begins the oversteer, then uphill into a tight left, just back off the throttle hold the steering and the kart flicks the other way and drift will start at least 4 metres or so before the corner starts. It can then be held all the way through the corner straightening up on the exit.

It is good fun, especially when battling others.

It might just be me, but I've always found it miles easier to drift a kart than a car. Piece of piss actually. Mainly because you are directly connected to the steering and when you go sideways you are pretty much forced to apply opposite lock by the force on the front wheels :)

well yeah the Rotax Max's with 28hp are easier to drift than rental karts for sure.

When i drive my mates one at Rye House he is always in tears cos I am sideways everywhere in it, over kerbs, on the grass.. :D :D :D

One of my fave tricks was in the left hand corner after the long right hander at the end of the straight, power sliding around slower cars on the outside !! lol

Or the other one on the final 2 corners setting the kart sideways into the left hander of the chicane the flicking it right into the last corner and holding it sideways all the way onto the straight.

Not the quickest route by any means but the most fun !!

If only I could drift a car that well !

Sounds like us when we first started. Do you find that after a while you start cursing sideways for slowing you down :D

Do you mean the one followed by a left hairpin then a right hairpin. I love that corner aswell, sooooooooo hard to get it perfect cause it's 240 degrees at about 60mph :D Really satisfying when you do though

Again, yeah, you have to have the gearing right though. Last time I lenghtened it to stop it over-revving down the straight and it didn't have the power out of the last corner.

Yeah thats the corner !!

The only time you start cursing the sideways stuff is when you are trying to put in decent lap times..otherwise its the only way to go ! lol
