AUS S14 From Street drifting to Pro drifting!

New snail

So a couple of nights ago I purchased a new turbo set up. I felt that the trusty t28 was getting a little worn out and I also wanted a little more go in 3rd gear to keep up with v8 boys. (Best mate/team has an ls1 s14)
So got working and started removing the old turbo and injector set up!

It was actually pretty clean and fresh down here so was happy about that!
Here's the old turbo set up! T28bb

And the new one! Slide Industries gt2871r and braided lines!

So that's all I've really got done lately besides fix body damage and replace my lca. My alignment only got knocked a little bit so hitting the wall wasn't that bad!
What's next is I'm going to remove the engine, give the engine bay a freshen up and change a couple of things here and there. And then do a lot of maintenance on the sr20det whilst it's out of the engine bay.
I won't be driving for the next two months as my job takes me interstate on weekends so my next event I've booked in for is at Raleigh Raceway on August 13/14!
So I have 9-10 weeks to get the car ready!

I've done the dumb thing and written a list of things to do before then!
WISH ME LUCK!

Clean engine bay
Front/rear main seals
All belts
Water pump
Paint rocker cover
Turbo gaskets/manifold gaskets
Intake gaskets

??????
Profit/skids/world domination/fuck bitches

If you can think of anything worth doing while I'm at it, let me know!
10 weeks and counting! LETS DO THIS

Beginning of the end!

So the weekend has just passed, didn't get a whole lot done really. Besides worked 12 hours on Saturday.
Started the Sunday off helping my mate Chris put some coilovers in his s14, and install a radiator and get the car driving for the first time.

He's making it hard for me to keep up, I'll still get him ;)

Sunday night i decided to fiddle with my own car, absolute no motivation.
Found a way to shut my boot without the boot latch!

Then the fun part, goodbye sr20! Never to return! (Kidding) or am I?

And here she is in all her smashed up glory :(

And that's where I'm at. I'm working away for the next 4 weekends so I'll probably store parts and maybe during the week do a few small jobs.
But I've hit a cross road:
Do I stay sr20 and lack in the reliability department, or do I just do an rb25det conversion.
In reality once the sr hits over 200kw, the gearbox won't last. And a gearbox conversion is worth almost the same as a full rb25det conversion.
Does the weight really matter? I don't and never will trust sr's.
Something to think about. Sr20det vs rb25det
Opinions?

SA3s! I'm putting SA3s on my 14 as well, nice to see that they do sit well on them. Engine wise, you'll probably find it's more planted and progressive with the big iron 6 slung out front. A bit of nose heaviness isnt really a bad thing on a drift car tbh, it comes down to personal preference though. Roughly an 80KG difference between RB and SR. Personally i love the light footedness of a 4pot sbody but it comes down to driving style

They looked terrible off the car, and then even worse without tyres. But once on the car they looked sooooo good!
I'm a huge 4 cylinder fan and I've already ordered heaps of parts so I'll probably stick to the sr and just hope the gearbox holds up!

Cant beat a well built/tuned SR, my SR22 was mental and I had a stock box running 440ft/lbs for 4000miles before I broke it and the gearbox didn't feel the best when it went back in after the SR22 build anyway lol.

Never been a RB fan, all about the JZ if going 6 pot anyway.

Also nice bikes in the garage, quite into my downhill/enduro's at the moment, would kill for a garage/toys like yours when I move over lol.

You've gone from a 3.6 to a 4.3. Try a 4.1 / 4.08 ratio diff. 2nd will be more usable and with the bigger turbo 3rd will bake.

You've bought a tonne of stuff for the SR, best to stick with it. Just don't over-grip the rear end (ie soft springs, big tyres, soft tyre pressures, etc) and your gearbox will love you for it.

Jz fetch a ridiculous amount at the moment, it's just not possible with the money I make haha!
I used to be a die hard bmx rider, and then my old man got me into downhill and I no longer own a bmx bike haha :)

There were multiple reasons I went 4.3, first one being availability. I spent weeks looking for a diff, ALL ADM delivered s14/15 has either a 3.6 or 3.9 abs 6 bolt. Only option for 4.1 is either a fancy useless 2 way, or the rare chance and abs a13 diff will pop up. An s13 4.3 popped which after weeks i was desperate and I had in my mindset I wouldn't want any more power. But after driving with others I'm pretty confident I do. After all other upgrades I'll bite the bullet and get a 4.1 2 way but this will have to do for now :)
worst case I buy a spare gearbox for a rainy day haha

Maintenance maintenance maintenance!

So now that the engine is out I'm going to use all my spare time (if I have any?) to do a whole bunch of maintenance to the car as well as changing the turbo set up!
First thing I noticed once the engine was out is that it was honestly so clean, makes me thing the previous owner really did look after it and maybe it is a healthy forgey inside? Who knows. But look at this thing!

Ive had it a few months, drifted it twice and driven interstate and not a single bit of mess all round. Sweeeet!

Also on that note, over the last week a few bits a pieces I've ordered have arrived!
Intake gaskets, turbo gaskets/lock tabs, billet gearbox mount, solid shifter bush, slideworx castor arms, braided clutch line and a few other small bits. Not long now and I'll have everything to put it back in.

Also my injectors arrived! I ordered 850cc injectors but i received an email saying they were out of stock but had 1000cc readily available if I would like a free upgrade, who i am I to say no to free!?

And that's about it really, nothing exciting whilst I'm working so much!

I'm already over maintenance

So got home from my work trip to Sydney on Monday and had some time to kill.
Thought I'd play around with the car a little and clean up my garage

Worlds messiest engine bay!

One purple pile of poop.
Test fitted the new turbo!

Pulled the rocker cover off to see how it looks, nice to know it was still mint under the cover. In the head looking the slightest bit gunky though.

Removed my plugs to see how they were doing! One track day old and they're crap already. Lucky I change them every time (easy way to spend $120)

Started getting all the seals ready to be changed and all the gaskets. Currently waiting on New oem water pump aswell as my gates racing belts.
I have some time this afternoon to work on the car so I'll be cleaning the engine bay, removing fuel tank and getting some fittings for my turbo lines!
Will update soon ✌️

What am I doing again?

Tell ya what, I get distracted unbelievably easy. This all started because i didn't think my t28bb was super healthy?
ANYWAY. Once again work is taking over my life, hardly got anything done and just collected a few bits.

See all this? WHY you ask?
Because I didn't like the plain black hose in my engine bay. What the fuck guys
Anyway started modding my fuel rail, and fitted my 1000cc injectors.
Lest it looks cool Hahahaha :(

ALSO picked up this bad boy, praise the lord! Oil filter relocation and an added cooler woo

New water pump

Sard fuel pressure reg
Also didn't like the look of this:

Turned it into this^ much nicer.
Also had a fiddle with my rocker cover, told you I get distracted.

It went on terribly so the paints been stripped but yeah I'll start again when I'm back from my work trip.

Took the car out for some sunlight too!

Washed all the dust off.
Did some of this

And that's about it for this week? I also put my engine up for sale.
Fuck mate, no idea what I want to do next. This engine won't do what I want it to, and with the same money I can get a battle car and build this slowly as my comp car?
Who knows right, gotta wait til next week
Cheers bois

Liking this so far dude.

Reckon you should go rb20det though. Nice and revvy, and fucking bulletproof. Plus they sound awesome...

Agreed they're an awesome motor, one of my favourite for a missile style car. But realistically to have them capable at a competitive level nowadays it's just too much money to use an rb20 reliably!

Well now what?

Now comes the fun part, I gotta decide what's next?
Turbo 20v 7age anyone?
Probably not, but definitely no more sr20s!

Stay tuned

Did somebody say part out party?

Well yeah things escalated quickly and now I don't have a car or anything left.
Won't bore you with the details but blah blah personal preference blah blah something new blah blah
You get where I'm going, I don't know what's next but hopefully it's pretty cool. Maybe a street car I don't know?
Indecisive/10
Thanks guys
