Bin the RB20DET bring on the RB26DETT

Multi Throttle

Multi throttle bodies forma rb26 are the way to go and a adaptor plate for the rb20 is not hard for us to make. it will have ultimate throttle response that way..
 
As Ant said the the front diff is integrated into the sump on the 26, also the oil pickup is different between the 26 and 25 so may proove problematic. 26s, especially tuned ones are notorious for running ends, and if its gonna be used for drifting then that just increases the likelyhood. To be fair if your dead set on getting something to fit you can. Thought about an rb30? :cool:

Another suggestion which you probably wont go for would be a 2.2 stroker kit on an sr20 with an HKS gt turbo hanging off the side? Would be infinately easier, but i suppose that ruins the challenge.

Why try and swim uphill??

If RB25 has all the bits you need just buy one - I mean, you can get one with a 33gts-t wrapped around it for about 3-4k from a breakers.

Sell whats left and your RB20 and i dare say the engine would be effectively free.

The 26 isnt as responsive as the 25 in standard spec eiter, so unless you are going to want more than 380bhp I would just stick with a 25.

Rich, buy mine mate :D The whole lot - Eng, box, loom, steel turbo, plenum, rad and front fans, battery relocation kit, Prop, mounts, 3" front pipe and Blitz NUR Spec car back, rev box thingy FMIC pipework, polished S/Steel intake and FMIC pipework, std ECU, Apexi Power Intake :)

With my plenum I think I lost a bit of torque, but gained top end. The guy I bought it from said it would give me 30bhp out of the box and it did. The car made 330bhp/ and IIRC 270ish Lb/ft on the std turbo, injectors and ECU running 0.85 bar. The peak power was at max revs. It has all the kit ready to go for high 300s (well, apart from the 550s, the Power FC, the clutch and a mapping session :). Very quick spooling aswell... No lag :D
 
Wanted £4000, but Ill take £3500. I forgot to add that it also comes with a new Whiteline ARB custom made to fit with the RB... Cost me £170! Had it made by them, not modded... has 25mm extra drop :)
By the way - the plenum has the big throttle body too :)

One other thing - Rich if you do got GTR just weld the holes up on the std sump, or fit a Patrol sump ;)
 
Matt s i'm very interested but as you know i've only just started my new job today (monday) so it will be a few months before i would be in a position to have it off you. :wack:

If i think about it, i could get about £1500 ish for the RB20DET (maybe a deposit, don't know what time scale your on for selling it)

I've just realised the picture on my phone of the skyline engine in the S13 is yours!!!! :worthy:

Why bother with expensive plenum? You know people that TiG. Cut your plenum up and make it proper! GTR injectors will go in your RB20 with correct wiring. Wrong impedence as standard. Fix that, then get chip from Japan to run big boost. Put a better turbo or run 1bar on your turbo and your sorted. Just doooo eeeeettttttttttt. Oh and you need 2mm headgasket too. RB20 is quite high compression.

I know where you are coming from, but its the plenum that is the biggest problem of them all.

The RB20 doesnt run that higher comp ratio - 8.5:1, same as SR and CA. The RB25 is 9.0:1 which is high(ish) for a turbo car.
Dont cut and shut the std plenum:no: . Its not designed to be front facing... You're asking for trouble. My plenum has fins running down the length of it to aid airflow and also bellmouths (trumpets) over each port inside the plenum for equal airflow...
 
The blitz/Uras r34 uses an rb25,use rb26 intake with an adapter plate on a rb25 jop done :thumbs:
