major issue... all fitted up and we cant get a clutch pedal, yes it is bled properly and weve tried different ways.
has any one got any advice on what the problem could be? did i need anything else to fit the flywheel? and it it the same width/thickness as the standard cluccth for alignment reasons?
All the same yep and I've fitted them to 2 5sp cars, one 3.0 one 3.2 so it definately works. It's possible the clutch fork has dropped out of alignment when you fitted the box and the slave cylinder isn't sitting in it, has the pin popped out of the slave cylinder??
no we've had the slave in and out a few times, even extended the rod to make more contact, it will just about engage but it rotates the wheels whilst in gear with the clutch down! the fork is visable from the hole the slave goes in and it appears to be there!
we ve found a possible fault with the master cylinder on the pedal ive got a new one on the way so fingers crossed that will sort it, if not im out of ideas!
master cylinder replaced, pedal feels mint but still no gears.
we've tried a longer slave pin, the standard one, and a shorter one. still no change!
box is coming back out tonite to measure the flywheel and its offset etc etc aswell as to double check everything as we are now out of options and its costing me money i dont want to be spending .
Just had someone on the e36 forum suggest i flip the friction plate over he has fitted a lightweight flywheel also and had the same issue by doing this he said it solved the problem.
had to cut a whole in the box to seperate it and then cut the friction plate off.
put my old one back on and it worked first time
upon further investigation we found the friction plate (a genuine OEM bmw part) to be mis-aligned (bent) so i will be chasing them tommorow for some money back!
4 days to do a clutch... not funny
and sorry bon for the text and call i was desperate at that point and was about to cry.
first impression of teh flywheel is good, gets to 3k quick lol and revs much better!
Sorry I was off with belly aids yesterday and didn't even notice my phone.
Sounds like you possibly put the friction disc in the wrong way round in the first place it?? That would stop it from disengaging and also bend the disc.... ?
Worried by you cutting holes in the gearbox... But glad there's nothing wrong with the flywheel after all.
How have you found the flywheel and clutch for gearbox chatter and general driving? Is it a pig for, as an example, a daily driver? Could use the E34 M5 clutch, fitted in reverse, to add back in the springs to dampen the chatter if there is any...
