Drift Allstars Banning Pre '96 cars

I'd rather see regulations regarding vehicle power tbh, at the moment FD is just a BHP contest. Give me a series restricted to 200bhp, then you might see a return of aggressive driving styles and initiations like this:

The glory days! Drifting will never be this fun to watch again!

Because if it doesn't the younger generation won't have any connection with old nissan and toyota. And wouldn't be able to afford to buy them any because they will become rarer.
And the older guys will get less and less and the sport will go backwards.

Things need to constantly evolve to progress.

The issue with the future of drifting is the complete lack of modern RWD cars, you are literally limited to BMW if you want an affordable MANUAL RWD car.

There are a lot of modern RWD cars out there, and in terms of motorsport they're cheap too, they're just not £1000 missile cheap yet. Toyota even make a base spec gt86 specifically for use in competitions.

BMW, Nissan, Toyota, Subaru, Vauxhall, etc etc etc.

Manual conversions aren't a big deal, and anything decent that a lot are autos will have a manual conversion kit available for it once popular for tuning.

Open your eyes.

Doesn't go far enough.
Should restrict it to cars 10 years old or younger. Should allow RWD conversions to FWD cars.

The opinion of drifters doesn't matter. We're too small a demographic.

I think the issue with RWD converted FWD cars is the firewall modification, which to be fair could cause issues if it isn't done right.

Not so sure about that.

WRC popularity has gone to shit since the days of homologation specials. That happens to almost all motorsport when they go away from cars being at least vaguely based on road versions.

Now the cars no longer have any resemblance to the road version, what was one of the biggest motorsports in the world is pretty much forgotten by most people.
