Is it impossible to manual a VVTI engine without standalone ECU?
Not impossible, but if it's an Aristo one its a lot of hassle
What if you fit a NON VVTI engine loom, with a NON VVTI ECU, how would that work?
Wouldnt work so great.. If you used a Supra VVTi Manual loom and ecu, then yes..
Do you know if the accelerator is fly by wire/electric or is it mechanical?
The pedal is cable, the throttle body has a TPS, which tells the Solinoid to open/close the throttle. You can get throttle body conversions to revert back to a completely mechanical throttle
I'm considering buying a Front cut Aristo VVTI, but as I understand, the VVTI is a messy conversion to do in say, a BMW e36?
Would be a lot easier with non vvti engine?
The mechanics of any engine swap is the easy bit.. It won't be any harder or easier than swapping a JZ in to most cars.. The fact that the engine has VVTI has no difference to how hard the engine swap is..
What other options do you consider to be good, regarding VVTI?
Which engine is best? VVTI or not?
The VVTi engine is better.. It's newer, flows better, VVTi makes more torque
Is there worth paying more for a NON VVTI engine if you want to run twin turbos and original ECU+manual box?
non VVTi is usually cheaper than vvti.. But if you want to keep it stock forever, source a Manual Supra engine and loom etc.. Wouldn't bother busting your balls to get a v160 either, other solutions out there
