fkin insurance

Not with the standard engine and box no, but me and my buddy put a rb25 into his classic wagon. Shafts have held up ok so far.

Anyway mate good luck with whatever you decide.

Personally id say get a normal car to cut about in. We all gotta start somewhere for me it was a yaris t sport. And then build a drift car on the side, trailer it to drift days or whatever and keep the drifting off the streets.

Thats my advise anyway but i gotta feeling youre just gonna do what you want haha.

But dont start another insurance thread its getting annoying now lol

Just get a new fiesta , clio, corsa, c2 or what ever car they are doing free/cheap insurance deals on its much nicer having a new car than some rusty unreliable POS that everyone just takes the piss out of and you get sick and tired of fixing it.

a 70hp fiat panda is more fun than a 500hp s14 on the public road (unless you like handing your license back and then paying huge insurance premiums)

You can store a track car at some tracks so you can just book in and use it or get a parent to insurance and drive it to the track for you.

I looked in to making an impreza rwd, as far as I know you need to remove the front shafts, plate over the outputs on the gearbox for the front shafts and lock the centre diff. The WRX rear shafts are chocolate once converted to RWD, but you can fit the STI shafts and they'll handle the power all day.

As for the V8 Volvo it runs a 1UZ-FE out of an LS400, along with a lot of NOS.

End of the day just go for the cheapest insurance quote possible, seems you're set on an e36 (fuck knows why) so there really isn't a lot more to decide.

Now that I'm a little bit older, I regret dropping two and a half bags insuring a TT Soarer at 18. Spending £3K to insure some shitty weak engined BMW at 19 is straight up spastic, not to mention that the company you've linked above looks generic as. Even if they 'Allow mods' I suspect that as soon as you start listing anything more in-depth than a set of alloys and fluffy dice they won't be interested.

What sort of quotes are you getting on normal cars?

Old fords are cheap to insure for me, Just got a 2.0 sierra to run about in. Quite pokey and goes well in the wet with the shittest viscous lsd. Would be a sweet car with a welder and dropped bit of lock ect

Drifting is fun, but not £3k insurance fun.

Just get an impreza or another fun FWD/4WD car and forget about drifting til you can insure a 330i for sensible money.

I had an Omega 2.0 when I was 18 for sensible money, if thats another cheap option?

Otherwise 21 is the magic age number where things start to get cheaper on insurance.

omega 2.2 = 50 quid cheaper per year than a bimmer

a 1.2 corsa is fucking 600 cheaper per year... just as well pay that extra 600 and have something half decent

sierra is same price as corsa -___-

What are you doing to get quotes so high? my 18 year old brother got a quote of £800 fully comp on a volvo 340

You may as well ask how to achieve peace in the middle east and how jesus found a bloke called David, Luke, Matthew etc in a desert.

Insurance is the most random spasticated thing on this earth, there is no rhyme or reason for the prices, its just your age, what year you happen to be in and your postcode.

i was shit out of luck myself and HAD to pay up £3600 for my first year of driving in a ferrari 360 ...and by ferrari 360 i mean a fucking polo mk2 facelift with a 1.2 engine...of course i could of done illegal things but then my insurance wouldnt be cheap as it is now and i dont fancy being shafted by the 5-0.

So welcome to driving, i believe a e36 on my 1st year would of costed £12,500 if memory serves..bargain, skyline was £30,000

Anyway

OP Try only young drivers, they were decent for me, ring em up tell em you wont be naughty and speed and generally a good price will happen.

I got a years no claims on a clio, then bought a 1.8 mk2 mx5 at 18.. was around £1200 a year to insure I think

Basicly what purcyP said. I too have tried to figure the algorithm they use but it seems like its all bullshit. just depends on your age and where you live mostly.

Seconded. Why does everyone want the world for nothing, personally i had a 1.0 fiesta as my first car.

have you even read the full thread ?

and yeah ive called a lot of companies already. I think my best bet would be that 4youngdrivers company. Found a decent e36 the other day, had a look at it on sunday and put a deposit down, going to pick pick it up on saturday hopefully.
