Front number plate laws

Havnt run one for ten years. Never been pulled for it and probably saved a few grand in fines.

However my cars are normally built with some pride/style, if your running around a shitbox e36 covered in rubbish then it'll probably get you pulled

What about the mot? Also you do get 'shitbox' jap cars getting driven round as well

My car came with no space for a number plate stock and a uk car and its a 11 plate the pervious owner never ran a plate on it ever. I got worried so its got a stick on one now

I call bullshit as all cars sold in the UK must have a fitting for it.

I don't get people who don't run a plate, its kinda stupid. I also find it even dumber that people don't run a plate and then bitch about the fine.

Plates cost you £30 (or there abouts)..... they are functional and you can get them fitted and still look good. Any reason to not run them is just dumb.

Simple logic.

Fine is £100, used to be £30

In ten years of not running a front plate ive been fined once in ten years.

What have I saved?

Probably a lot of points from speed cameras, a few thousand pounds of fines, not having to pay in camera controlled car parks.

And the fine?

Was £30 and saved me 3 points. I got caught very blatantly drifting in a silly place. Got pulled, they went over the car, told me off for driving like a dick. I was pleasant to them and the officer said "I can see that you've spent a lot of money on this car and probably know what your doing, but I have to write you up for something so I'll give you the lesser charge of no front plate"

Not that stupid really?

People bitching about the fine though yeah. It's a gamble you take however from actual experience as far as I'm concerned I've saved myself a shit load of money from not running one and will continue to do so.

I think a valid point initial_j made is that he was pleasant when talking to the police. I've been pulled for various shit in the past and 9/10 times I've got away with it due to being polite and not trying to lie about it. Admittedly I think it's harder these days with all the police quotas, but id rather get a fine for no front plate, than a fine/points for dangerous driving!

So the lesson here is do whatever you want, but make sure you dont have a front plate so that a policeman can do you for that after your late night streeto session lol

No the lesson here is obey the fucking law or face the consequences if caught. So what if some people don't run one and have gotten away with it, or had minimal fine, big fucking deal. You could just as easily get an absolute jobsworth copper who will rape you as much as lawfully possible.

Some people dont get sarcasm it seems, i even put the obligatory 'lol' on the end to help make it obvious......lol [/sarcasm]

"Just because something is ILLEGAL. Does not mean it is WRONG."

For example..

It is illegal; To feed the homeless, in 22 states of America.

..since January of 2013, 22 cities have successfully passed restrictions on food-sharing, and the legislation is pending in nine other cities

Im curious Mr Rubix, As you come across as a very keen law abiding citizen happy to follow an order or 2.

If you were in Florida, and you seen a dude.. struggling to exist; whilst your diving into a full on chips n cheese n all the jazz; and the dude was literally begging for food, to live.. but your good ol' buddy next to you; Mr Police man. Whispers in your ear; "You know son. If you give him a chip. I'll lock you in Jail and take the rest of your spending money." Id be curious on what you would do..

Would you walk on past; Like the good citizen you are. Without maybe asking; wtf drives a man to become a police officer, to enforce such an injustice through out? Or would you feed the man anyway and see what happens?

An extreme example granted; but one non the less.

2015 or 1986.

I dont think they will let it slide anymore as theres so much ANPR that relies on legible numberplates, I got hit in my 350 not long after it went on the road despite having a stick on plate to go onto it in the car.
