Insurance Cancelled Due to Motorsport Involvement

im insured with TW too and they are just taking a piss! 3rd year running the premium never goes down, WTF??? time to move on!

If its not in the Ts&Cs then then they haven't got a leg to stand on. That's the whole point they have to declare everything in the document. They cant give a reason that wasn't stated in the document you signed as it wasn't there to inform you.

It's pretty standard to say it on the actually certificate. All my insurances have said it since I've had trade insurance, and I bet if people check they're personal car insurance.

Sorry for rubbish pic but check for exemptions on the cert itself.

And here on some personal car insurance.

Only thing I don't understand is though, why do they cancel it? I would think it just means while your on track your not insured. Other wise no one on here is probably insured same with every single car that goes to pod ect ect.

We all know insurance does not count when on track, if you want track insurance you buy it.
Nowhere within T&C's does it state not allowed to do track days, or insurance is cancelled.

Does it say any of the above on the certificate tho?
Also you didn't say if it's a trade policy? Why exactly did they say they canceled it? Was it because you drift your car or was it because you had a drift 'modified' car on your insurance? Only trying to think why they would've cancelled it.

They are unjust in cancelling the insurance. Whether the 'drift' car is on the policy or not, they are covering you for road risks, and presumably have motorsport exemptions in the T&C's. There is no risk to themselvs,so they have no right to cancell your contract with them.
Id call up and threaten a court case and demand the premium back, from the date they are trying to backdate to. Idiots.

Ask them how a WRC car is insured, whilst on the road sections to the stages, just to make somebodys head there explode.

Got any more update here or are you just accepting it dude?

You can't use a motor trade policy for any form of motorsport full stop, thats why I'm with REIS which is motorsport trade policy and i bet I pay 3 times what you pay, if you have 1% of the company or cars you will be using are motorsport then you have to go motorsport policy, they ask you this when you take out the policy, Trade insurance is normally for unmodified road vehicles.

Well no,you can specify modified, motorbikes vans ect when you apply for the policy.

That doesnt matter though as he wasnt insuring his e30 its just because he is involved in motorsport.

Seems strange they would do this unless you where advertising your company on your car or advertising motorsport at your place of work..

Nothing yet, other than just received a letter from broker telling me they couldn't take payment out my bank this month. That would be because I cancelled the DD for Tradewise. So will have to ring on Tues to find out why they trying to take payment for a cancelled insurance.

Cant involve finanacial ombudsman until 8 weeks after contacting tradewise.

Keen to find out really and perhaps understandably dont want to phone my broker to find out ......... :o

I mean, how many garages sponsor motorsport teams, surely thats just as much "motorsport" involvement as doing the odd track day is? I know drifting had to be disclosed to my life insurance company but it would be good for them to tell us where they drw the line here really

also very interested to hear the outcome of this. As unless key facts have been missed out by the OP it all sounds very odd!

I don't think I've missed anything out. Its cancelled purely down to being involved in "motorsport". I've now received the NCB off them, and been passed to current insurer. So will be sending a letter of complaint to them next week, detailing a few points I need clearing otherwise I will be sending a complaint to Financial Ombudsman.
