iPLAYHARD - Z33 Fairlady Project - Awesomeness!

Ben!

Rotard.
Hey Chap's & Chapette's,
As you can probably guess my names Ben, i've been reading the forum for years but never really bother to post lol. So i thought i'd make a project thread for my Z.
I picked her up abit ago with 30k miles on the clock and pretty much pristene condition, although it had no MOT or Tax on it, it sailed through first time no bother.
Anyway I apologise for the wanky iphone camera pic's but i dont have a decent camera :D.
Well to start off heres how I bought her...

The very first thing i did was slap a Jimmy Up air freshener in there to get the new car smell back before decideing what to do next..
Obviously She was rolling like a 4x4 lol, so much so that when driving it i was feeling the altitude sickness.
It needed some serious slamminating so i placed an order with DW and the next day this arrived :D ...

I soon had that ripped open to find this box of awesomeness...

Yay!
Being the impatient twat that I am i started fitting them straight after i got in from work, bad call. It dropped dark really quickly and i ended up working with a flexi desk lamp with a daylight bulb lol. I just about finnished fitting it all in the dark at about 1am lol, so i took a quick spin to check everythings ok and it hardly rubbed on anything at all apart from huge pot holes.
I dropped it a fair way down, leaving the back slightly higher knowing the backs would settle and sag deeper than the fronts.
Again apologies for the wank photo but heres how it stood thus far...

and a shot of it in works car park..

Right well, afew running a good few miles up with the coils on they seemed to settle abit and the back came down slightly.

I had a set of Work VS-KF's kicking around in my bedroom which i was saving for my FC but as thats currently being rebuilt i decided the Z needed some love so slapped them on there.

Theyre 18x10 et 26 rears and 18x9 et20 fronts. Not the most manly of offsets but they sit nice on the stock bodied FC. Obviously the Z has huge man sized arches and needed some spacing out, DW came to the rescue again with some 25mm spacers for the rear. I couldnt decide how much to space the front out yet so just left those as they were for now.
The backs sat awesome and flush with the tinyest bit of poke, just as i like it :)
That gave me this ...

I was getting ready to head down to the Jap show finale at pod as I recieved another package with some more love for the Z! A Carbon lip! I fitted it and realised that there would be no chance of it surviving all the way to pod! On the trip down to pod, 15 miles down the A1 to be precise, the suspension started banging like fuck on the rear so we did a U-turn and headed off home for some fault finding.
After 20 mins of checking everything in the pouring rain we found that the nut on the very top of the shocks on the rear had vibrated loose :S , We sorted this and also chopped some holes into the thick crossbar across the rear so that i could adjust the shocks now and at a later date when i start drifting it.

When i eventually got to pod i was greated by some pleb who sent me down the worst possible track to a parking space so the lip definately wouldn't have survived lol. The day turned out to be fairly wank with the pouring rain all day long, the highlight was definately watching the Drifting, you guys were really throwing it down hard in the shite weather, big props :D Heres a shot of it parked in the grass and mud at pod...

Right, I hope you guys like it so far, just going to order some spacers for the front and i'll get more piccys up.

Mucho Love.

Cheers Steveo :D, I dont really intend doing much more to the exterior, less is more with these i recon.
I had it 20 mm lower than it is now and i couldnt get off the lane i live on :( , I thought about going down further after i've raised the lowest hanging bits abit.

I bet that lip will be the problem - the front clearance is my big problem atm as well :(

Looks good though (particularly for an orange one ;))

muddyell - Thanks dude! dont intend to do much more to the outside :)

docwra - Yeah the lip is mega low, and also the flange on the exhaust hangs down quite low at the back. For an orange one pfff :D i fancied the orange just because i hadn't seen an orange one that looked hot yet :D

Ceffy - Cheers man! Yeah the front spacers are my next thing on the list then adjustable arms and full laser alignment.

I'm quite happy with the progress so far :)

ok lower it 19mm ;-)

That looks well nice! Just needs the front spacing a tad!

Glad we could sort you with some cool bits :D

Tarrrr kam :D

Yeah i'm thinking about another 25mm up front, and thanks you guys for sorting me out with the bits!

Yeeeah.

It's good that people are messing with these more now, they look so awesome and 'squat' when low. That front lip is sweet.

Cheers topi :) , the lips awesome but on the wank roads near me i cant see it lasting too long :wack:.

Gave her a wash last night, lovely and clean now

Just decent wheel fitment makes a world of difference to them. Try telling that to the owners club though ....... ;)
