Is there anywhere i can rent a small racetrack

My dad does help me out abit because he really loves drifting and the rx7 is mine I bought it off a friend of my dads who bought it off a German soldier that imported it

Haynes Motor Museum have a track that was pretty good value - £800/day iirc.
It can't be used at the moment however as it's being used for a carpark whilst they refurb the place.

im just starting to drift and i dont want to bash up my car yet i want to get some practice in before i got to one of the DW practice days

contact tom hutchison at flatout factory, they run drift workshops at birmingham wheels in a controlled enviroment where your taught the basics and can lead on to further teaching. you dont even need to take your car.

failing that contact the organisers of santapod and see if you can do a dwyb, worst they can say is no!

you wont be able to rent hednesford or curborough for drifting its highly frowned upon.

wheels is definatly not the place to learn on your own on the oval as it hurts when it goes wrong which it inevitably will.

The OP's location is listed as Cannock, Stafford. After spending a quick 20 seconds conducting a search for 'race tracks-Cannock-Stafford' that place (i.e. Hednesford Hills Raceway, Cannock, Stafford) is what came up top of the list.

From the photos on their website the track appears to be a small asphalt/tarmac track that looks ideal for a bit of experimental skidding

of course if the OP hasn't thought to contact the small race track that's in his home town, or even pop in and ask as to whether the management would even be open to the possibility of letting a young local lad have a short discounted session or two in which to do what he feels he needs to do prior to going to a DWYB day, then I would suggest that perhaps that it might be worth his while to do so before looking further afield hence the link

of course if the OP has already contacted them and been told that it's not doable then he may come back and tell us as such....we would then all know that Hednesford Hills Raceway shouldn't be considered as an option if you're looking to hire a cheap track for the day in order to learn to skid

I am by no means an expert on suitably cheap tracks for hire and was simply throwing a possible line of enquiry out there for the OP to consider

Hednesford raceway are not I REPEAT NOT! interested in allowing drifting on their circuit, they have been contacted by many members of the drift community over the years and every single time have said no. People would'nt shit on an idea unless there were facts to back it, hence why I said dont contact Curborough either as its the same answer.
Birmingham Wheels will rent the track for testing if you drift so be it, but its not overly cheap and the risk of writing your car off is high as it would probably be at Hednesford as said oval is steel encased/ walled.

That's fine mate, it was a suggestion that given the proximity of the track to the OP I thought it would be worth looking into. On the basis that they're happy to run stock car racing, banger racing and even caravan racing I assumed the management may be open to a bit of friendly skidding, however clearly they are not, such is life.

Hednesford is nothing to do with the management its the restrictions laid out on the track regarding the number of race days they can have due to the locals complaining about noise.

Its not often much people have a drift track on their door step.. So do what the rest of us do, and travel to an event.

As I said, Crail .. You can rent this out for very little and have the figure of 8 to yourself all day.. no ques, no nothing. All the time you need and all the space aswell for less than I bet anywhere else in the UK.

Its a no brainer, just put the miles in if a private cheap day is all you want. However dont dismiss public events, there always good too.

That's fair enough, which is a shame really as it looks like a tidy enough venue
I go alot as a couple of my mates race bangers. And yes it is a good track fast wide and a great surface to race on. The fact its in a bowl as well is great for spectators. Would make a good drift venue, if only.......
