JZX90 Chaser Insurance

Id recommend using one of your two reversing lights as a fog, at least that way you dont have to fix a horrible bastard fog light onto your bumper somewhere.
Great idea!

have a switch in the front somewhere with a switch line going to the drivers side rear reverse light. pop a red lamp in place of the clear one and jobs a gooden, a sneaky MOT acceptable fog light you dont have to worry about :)
I'l see where I can mount a switch and run a line, cheers.

I was lucky with my PS, the battery was still charged and is spot on even after 2 years after it landed, if your picking it up though defo take a jumper pack or spare battery just as JAPTorque said.
I'm not sure on pick up arrangements yet but I'll be sure to take a jumper pack.

where are you based?
I'm near Exeter, Devon.

  1. Am I likely to get insurance for my car if I declare all the mods, and if not;
Yes, it will be expensive, go for specialists only
  1. Is it too risky to drive the car without declaring the mods?
Yeah, police like to pull cars like that - i would not risk it unles you live in the middle of nowhere - cars can be cheap, but injuries and getting sued is not!
  1. How much is specialist car insurance likely to be?
£3,000+ given your experience, im already impresed by your quotes
  1. Is this car a mistake?
As you can store it: no it looks like an awesome buy, and its what you wanted, so its worth it

TL;DR:
  • 1993 JZX90 Chaser with street many mods
  • First car; 0 years no claims, 0 months driving experience
  • Insurance is ~£1k without declaring mods
  • Can't find an online quote while declaring mods
  • What should I do?
I got my first car at 19, and within days was driving it harder than perhaps was sensible - you WILL do the same, no matter your intentions, get a shitter for a few months first before you get overconfident and meet a ditch

Haha, you're right. I'll grab a cheap two door for 6 months. Thanks!

Still waiting for the car from Japan as COVID-19 means they aren't exporting / exporting is slow.

I've since bought myself a little 1.5L diesel runaround and I turn 25 this year so if I can hold out the best part of a year and have a year of NCB, I'll have more options / cheaper quotes.

I've noticed how awful the Devon roads are and I'm worried about driving the lowered chaser...

I think they're about 2 months behind. My car was taken to the port at the beginning of February as I had the exporter source me a couple of bits but he reckons it hasn't even left Japan yet.
