looking for some mx5 pics and modifications

what is a stock vlsd?
Standard Viscous LSD fitted to some of the Import 1.6 models

what people have fitted whats best so on and so forth end up with a headache lol.
I've got 15x7 et 13 with 15mm spacers on the front of mine with 195/50R15s and it is flush with the arch edge.
Rear, just run whatever. Got tyres and 4x100, good.

Well its a bonus that the mx i bought comes with a auto diff on it and the guy also chucked in a welded one to so just a matter of changing it over is that alot of work?
The Auto diff ratios are AWFUL. Provided the Welded diff is the same type (long nose/flanged or push in shafts etc), its just a matter or removing the prop bolts and mount bolts. Biggest ballache is removing the PPF (alloy ladder that attaches the diff to gearbox).

In regards to the hubs what company or place to you recommend for them?
Mintfab do a £60 and original hubs exchange to chop and weld them and make them look nice :)

Have been looking at the bucket seats they arent cheap and from what i can see very tight fit
Just get a Sparco Sprint or similar, no need to push the boat out :)

Who cars what it looks like. Weld the diff sort the handbrake go have fun. Build a good looking drift car after you have learnt to drift as learning to drift wont make your "drift looking car" look pretty.

This reminds me of what I think helped me progress quite quickly in the mx5. I didn't give a fuck about the car. Not "LOL I'm fitting a wooden spoiler!" not caring, Pushing my limits and not worrying if I smash into a bank/tyre/whatever. Don't sink money into how the car looks. If its your first drift car you will crash it. Repair it, get it presentable and get back out.

Aside from he said sort the handbrake, which is literally the last thing you want to get on if you want to progress in a car, esp an MX5.

The Auto diff ratios are AWFUL.

What ratio is it then? I thought it was similar if not the same, and most autos diffs gear a car down, making faster acceleration just lower stop speed, ie fine/good.

@Stavros nice reply, but I have a question. I don't have a whole lot of tips on this for ur miata btw.. I'm new to the forum.

They've not got any lock really, and while washers are cheap n easy, when decent hubs are only £110, I've gone down that route on 2 of mine, 2 others had lock washers, the other 2 I left stock lock- Didn't stop me.

Are you talking about wheel spacers here? I'm a noob, what's the benefit of this?

I have more questions, I'll make a topic in a bit.

3.9 is what I've seen Stav, with 4.3 in the 1.6 and 4.1 in the 1.8 5 Speeds.

He's talking about Rack Spacers - they sit in between your steering rack and inner tie rods. Just allow a longer reach on the steering meaning more steering angle :)

I've got 1.8 mk1...main mods for drifting are bucket seats, welded diff, meister r coilovers, deep dish steering wheel...agree with everyone else on not using the handbrake to try and improve technique...

other mods I found that have helped...straight exhaust from manifold back (mx5 parts) and bigger radiator (japspeed) as mine kept overheating on first few drift days...
