MX5 Drift Car

I have a mk1 on cheap eBay coilovers, loads of psi in the rear tyres and a welded diff, it's slides really really easily, I haven't been on track yet but iv found so far the best thing to do is just keep your foot planted and pray haha
 
Love mine, slides no problem. Learnt a hell of a lot driving the 5. Plenty more to learn before I go down the route that everyone else seems to think they need to and boost it
 
Once you turbo it, you'll kick yourself for waiting so long.
People say you don't need modded hubs and turbo. For sure my pal hoons round santa pod in a stock 1.6 with rack washers and a welded diff. But man, mx5's are so awesome with turbo
 
No doubt they are a crackin laff but they put a smile in your face without the need for extra power. You can learn the basics the thing you learn most is to use speed to your advantage, gives you the balls to chuck is around
 
I think that torque is the most important part, not necessarily horsepower. As well as the ability to get the torque to the wheels, reminds me of the old 50s Buicks here in America where they had so much torque they would twist the drive shaft, and break it. Also it important to remember to mod as your skills increase, or you'll find yourself repairing more than driving.
