My 350z Build/Drift progress thread...

I don't blame you, you've got to make use of your contacts/sources. What colour are you powder coating the subframe?

Bit of graft the other day pulling the whole subframe off. Not too much hassle, aside from the odd tight rusty bolt or nut here & there.

Bushes all arrived too :)

Promptly got stuck in stripping the whole lot down. Came apart pretty easily.
As the frame is still in decent condition, I don't think i will bother with getting it powder coated now. All steel/rusty components will be painted/coated though.

Lower arms wont need much work. GK Tech Camber arms and Driftworks Toe arms are still mint. Only the factory trailing arms need some tlc, so stripped them back for new bushes and a lick of paint.

The misery begins again, pressing bushes out...

Hubs and upper arms done, just need to remove a snapped bolt from the hub, clean them all up and fit the new bushes.
Have a box of bolts and brackets too, which i will be aiming to have cleaned up and zinc plated. Should have it all looking nice before re-assembly.

Don't be miserable, you're indoors by the looks of it. It's been cold outside working on a car in the wind. It will be finished before you know it, you're on the home straight. Fixing cars becomes easier when you can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Good choice of sustenance on a cold day that pot noodle

I just wish the car was indoors lol. I’m chipping away at it at work in my lunch break and after work, so quick food is the way to go lol

Good progress. I imagine it's going to be great to drive with those new polybushes in.

Hopefully, was never my intention to do all of this, i just wanted the subframe out of the way so i could clean up and re-stonechip the chassis. Just thought i may as well get stuck in now its all off lol

So all the arms and hubs are done. Found one of the wheel bearings to be dead, so ordered one up too.

Subframe bush time next up. Too big to go in the press, so using fire, a saw and big hammer,

Whilst i’m doing that, i’ve boxed up all of the nuts/bolts/brackets and sent them off to be zinc coated.

Just the subframe bushes left to do now and a lick of paint/cleanup here n there…

Smidge more progress today, now having finished all of the bushings.

Subframe bushes were by far the biggest pain to get out. properly stuck in there and had to smash to crap out of it to get it out,

Anywho, all out now and subframe is all cleaned up ready to accept the new bushings,

Pretty glad all that graft is done. Now i can move on to cleaning things up and throwing some paint down :D

Finally on the rebuild now with the subframe and everything that fixes to it.

Stripped all the grot and rust off a few bits ready for paint.

Car is still on stands on the drive, so plan is to get it rolling, transport it to work to put on the lift, drop the frame again and fuel tank etc, then crack on with cleaning up the chassis before the warm weather gets here.

Managed to start piecing the frame back together in my lunch break today.

Will no doubt have it built back up over the weekend and chucked back on :)

Wednesday night saw me getting the car shifted to work. Bit of a session getting it on the truck, being so low, but got there in the end,

Bit of graft the past couple of days. Dropped the tank, side skirts and a few other bits ready to prep for stonechipping.

Annoyingly found the rear sills to have gone a bit rusty,

Not ideal, but was expecting it being a Nissan…
Got to work chopping it all out, ready to test my basic fabrication skills :D

Leaving it a few days to all dry off before I throw some stonechip down on the weekend…

Still got to do the outer side’s of the sills, before I put the side skirts back on, but will do that when its off of the lift.

On the rebuild now, tank and subframe all back on. Cleaning and painting bits and pieces as we go. Looks much better under there now :)
