my kouki 180sxs 13.4 drifter

hi guys just thought ide start a build thread to keep track of stuff as it will be good for feuture reff.
most of it will bore you but here goes...
bought this car in early march if i remember rightly as a replacement for my old sx which would have sold had i not smashed it up. plan was sell it and get something i could use on track so i found a nicely modded 180sx owned by our very own (SX_BIG) he explaned it had a few issues and bits and bobs that could do with sorting out and here is his build thread

http://www.driftworks.com/forum/drift-car-projects-builds/152559-matts-180sx-project-3.html
And now for mine :)
right since i smashed the last s13 i had a few parts in the shed that insurance didnt rob which i decided to putt on her so heres the list
i had a
z32 afm
550cc injectors
tubular manifold
gt2871r
hks 1bar+ actuator
gizzmo m-ibs(the top one :wack:)
air filter hard pipe
genuine nismo gear nob although i expect the trust one was better was a bit cold(/hot in the sun) and span around and aroud
head unit
then purchased a new rocker gasket set from a guy on ebay selling genuine new nissan 180 gaskets and changed oil return due to spots of oil on the floor then gave engine a bit of a scrub down
booked her in for mapping at horsham dev and gave the car a quick service and checked everything was correct few days later took her up to get mapped only to get half way and have a really bad manifold crack ruin my chances of getting a really spot on map but jez did what he could thankfully and is now safe to drive

gizzmo up and running also wired in a switch to turn defi guages off as the warning buzzer was doing my head in
20120304_140147-1.jpg

after a little while the m.o.t was coming up so thought ide strip the body kit off and have a better look at its condition and may have got carried away
20120515_230059.jpg

i removed the side skirt and found a big dent to the sill which im sure if was left would rust and get really nasty with a bit of angle grinding/die cutting i found that the internal sill was bent up aswell so cut it out and welded some more in
20120522_220858.jpg

but then made a big error ... I wax oiled the whole sill emptied a whole big tin in to it unfortunitly wax oil is flamable when it gets hot and set fire to the inside of the sill while i was welding the inside and melted a few wires and the rear washer pipe(disconected anyway)but had to do a bit of re insulating trouble then was every time i touched the car with a welder it had a bit of a flaming session but got around it by blowing air down the inide of the rear quater and blowing the flames out before they spread.

20120515_230052-1.jpg

20120515_230027-1.jpg

i then zinc painted it all and sprayed it with hammerite and more waxoil.
20120522_222708.jpg

at this point i decided to have a look at the coilovers as they looked abit fed up and found that all 4 had seals gone i then went shopping
and found a full set of driftworks cs2

20120522_185521.jpg

my bumper /wings looked like they had been through demolition darby a few times so decided to give the car a new look and just so happened that i had the choice of a s15 front end or a s14a front end and at the time it seemed evey1 was going for s15 and although i love s15 front end i was wanting her to look a little different and the price of s15 headlights are through the roof if one brakes so i stuck with my gut feeling

20120219_135344-1.jpg

20120219_135359-1.jpg

at this stage il say i put it all back to s13 as some parts were missing like bumper support bar and bonnet hinges and i didnt realise at the time that you eather need to change your slam pannel or give yours a good kicking i also needed to repaire cracks and order a new bumper
you will need to cut behind the headlight out and also remove all the intercooler and slam pannel support except for the one in the middle

20120422_192152-2.jpg

i guess it was slightly better(reasuring that they had been previously fitted to shaans 180sx but still was alot of messing around and stressing making brackets etc

once that was done i started toying with the new bumper which was 2" too wide and too far back it was hitting the wheels
20120503_223815-3.jpg

20120507_173554.jpg

striped the vynil off the rear quaters
20120507_173622.jpg

20120507_173633.jpg

i then sanded back the bonnet with (p80) 0ops:cry: wont be doing that again even though i high built it flatted it back 3 times i can still see scratches so will be done again at a later date
20120623_201345.jpg

20120623_201345.jpg

added a roll cage for a bit of safety/stiffness aswell as whiteline arb's and nismo engine and gearbox mounts

change of plan now as I grew tired of not being able to see well at night and worrying about smashing the bumper as i'm not sure how much modification it would have took to get another s14a bumper to fit so reverting back to s13 front, most of it is now done I just need to play with some electrics and also get my hands on a decent looking bumper, once the 14a conversion kit is all fixed up it will be up for sale,

figured its about time I updated this as I have done a fair bit so here goes

so the front started coming together again popups are back and started looking at a colour change but couldn't decide so went for white
;-) and then changed my mind again

managed to hang around long enough to catch the exhaust that she was imported with come back up for sale so although it may have cost more than most its another part of her history I thought id restore

got some of the damage repaired and started prepping the car

got my hands on a full cage so I can start getting her up to regs might need some extras put in at some stage
