New to drifting?

I'm buying a stock Hachi-Go Coupe and I'm at a loss as to what I need to do first.... they put 17 inch rims on it so my thought is to go back to 14's.... I'm 100% clueless as to what to do...

P.S: I'm on a very limited budget

Smaller lighter rims will help. Stock size would be best(less tire width) as you do not want a lot of traction in such a low powered car. Also i would weld the diff if it is to be a track only car. It is much more predictable and easier to slide. Youll have to drive it pretty hard to slide(clutch kick A LOT, and rev the crap out of it)
Suspension will help but that depends on your budget. Personally id weld the diff, get skinny rear tires, and go have fun :)
Good luck!

Hi guys I'm new to drifting... need I say much more :P

Anyway cut things short, bought myself a e46 318i se, got a welded diff to put in on Monday, lowered on springs.
What I wanna know is has anyone got any tips for getting it to slide nicely, any tips on like flickin or weather you guys think its gonna have to be all speed and clutch kicking.

Any replies welcome, even if you just feel like being a TW@T :)
Thanks guys think the forums great.

Hello! e46 with that engine is perfect for winter conditions and probably rainy days 2nd gear drifts, asuming You`ll have diff ratio around 3.5 +, then third gear on high speed roundabouts coild work as well. :)
