R32 Skyline

cool, in that case, it sounds like you'll be ok with what you got :)
If I were you I'd knock down the boost a bit and keep a beedy eye on the temperatures (ideally oil temps if you can, coolant temps can be misleading)

It runs standard boost at the moment, and I can run anything up to 1.2 bar, but will probably stick to 1 bar for the minute, for normal road use anyway.

Lower boost for drifting is not something I'd considered before, but the way you describe it (slightly slower but more reliable) it makes sense :)

Got oil temp / pressure gauges, and I check the temp one too much - should be concentrating on the road really, lol :)

cool
the problem with drifting is that your back wheels and engine might be doing the work for 70mph, but your car can actually be travelling 40mph and because you're going sideways, the actual airflow through the rad and intercooler can be equivalent of 15mph because a lot of it just glides off at an angle. end result? 70mph engine work, 15mph airflow, things can very easily get incredibly hot and it just spirals
I'm very sensative to this particular problem as I had to shell out £1700 to get my engine replaced after I popped it at a drift day............

Just go out and have fun but be mindful :)

Now you're scaring me :(

I just spent a few grand on a rebuild - don't fancy another one anytime soon!

£1700! I dont feel so bad right now as I dont think its going to cost me that to fix mine (which incidentally just blew up while being drifted because of what appears to be a fuel system problem).

Jeff, don't worry :) just be aware of the temps, start off gently and don't go totally mental until you know how the car reacts to being driven like that :)
If you have an oil temp gauge and are used to keeping an eye on it, you're halfway there already :)
and Lee, yeah.... add that the the £900 it cost me to get the rear 1/4 replaced after I stacked it into the Armco at wheels and it all starts to add up........:p :o

I didnt think changing an SR20 would be that expensive.

I know it adds up though. So far I have broken:

A set of coilovers
An Engine
A clutch
Brake Discs and Pads (ok just on track, not drifting specifically)

Which is a lot considering my car is hardly ever working come the events so I miss half of them :p

Hi Jeff, Ben the driver of the German tank thingy here. :p

Nice to see you and your enormous carbon spoiler with an R32 GTR attached on here. :wack:

Pulling the fuse wont solve the 4wd problem and will make matters worse.

Killing the fuse stops the car rom pumping the oil around and will kill the car. This is something that a mate told me after I suggested it to his GTR32 at a drift day.

It's somethign the GTR owners club would suggest you didn't do.

Spend the money, get a torgue controller and sort the cooling. It's all somthing that will help your car whatever you do in it! :D

You can certainly do it cheaper than that (the engine for the drift car was £400 and is sweeeeet and we fitted it ourselves) but somehow there were just no engines around at the time I blew mine up, so I had to pay through the nose :( plus I trusted my local garage to do the fitting and they took bloody ages and charged by the hour, I don't use them any more......

Hi Ben :D

It's not that big :o :o :o :D

SidewaysRob - It was several people in the GTR club that suggested it in the first place! As for stopping the car pumping oil - well that's just silly!

And a torque controller won't make the car go into rear wheel drive, only make it behave more like a 4WD car like an Evo or something! That's what they're for, not making them RWD only!

Yeah I know, but i was told that their is electronics that control the cooling of oil. Just thought you might value opinion and research into it properly before 'possibly' wrecking your car.

Rotate the ATESSA Sensor Box through 90 degree's then go play. It fooks up all the g-sensor readings for acceleration and lateral forces obviously and it makes the car handle like shit... Sideways shit if i remember right.

Just buy a RWD car :D

its like asking how to tie trays on the back wheels of a saxo,

it aint ment for it, so if u want to do it get something that is
