Rattle Can Satin black

If money was no issue id be paying for a Candy purple job on the whole car , similar to Team BURST. really like the colour, but as a full time student who works part time and took a year to get my 13 roadworthy its not in my budget , hence the questions on rattle cars ... which is more in my budget, I dont care if it looks like a beat ass drifter... it already does it used to be a total missile. Whole kit is pop rivited or cable tied on , scratches throughout the bodywork etc, was just wanting the car a uniform colour , as a temporary solution i have since rattle canned the body kit Kuro Black same as the bodywork , it matches roughly which is all i want right now , i was just looking at matte black as a future option

The comments about doing it on a budget all make sense just for fuck sake do something a bit different. Matt black is the colour of the mongoloid

Have you seen the MX5 in the project thread? I think it belongs to "Pete The Russian"?

Canbrush Hi Quality Aerosol Spray Paint Interior Exterior C019 Candy Purple | eBay

basically this.

If you take your time and polish the paint (or use t-cut like pete the mad Russian bastard) you can get a reasonable finish in a decent colour. You'll never get a great finish with cans due to the chemicals and spray pattern on large areas but you'll get a better finish with metallic and lacquer and a polish than matt black so the idea of team burst purple can still be on the cards ;)

That was kind of my point.

But a lot of people don't or can't put the effort in so think matt paints are the answer to their problems.

They end up doing a sh!t job and then claim they don't care what it looks like because its their skidder, even though they cared enough to do it in the first place...

I think if you can't or don't want to paint a car properly but still (really) want it to look good, plastidip is a really good choice.

Easy to paint, uniformed finish, no mucking about with extensive prep (just needs a proper clean) and you can always peel it off if you don't like it and its easy to repair.

That would be my choice anyway.

People need to understand that just because its a rattle job doesnt mean it'll end up shit. THAT depends on the person painting.. and the paint used.
I have now found from experience, buying any old matt paint wont do the job. I have tried LOADS of brands now and stand by Plasti Kote as their matt finishes are hands down better than the rest.

I also used matt paint on my cars as most people are aware. All with rattle cans.

That is matt green plasti kote, with a coat of laquer on top.

This is the same brand of matt (purple) without the top coat.

Here is matt black that is a cheap brand (which was a mistake! Should of spent more and gotten decent stuff) + green sparkle bottom half.

Here is a AA van yellow kinda matt.

:) Hope that helps the OP.

Dont be subject to being stuck in the black though, there are literally millions of colours out there, just be original is all I ask. Too many people dont have a fucking clue and just butcher others for their paint codes.. grinds my gears that. So if your reading this and considering asking me for paint codes or colours.. dont. :p

Jites- If someone can't be arsed to spray a car properly with rattle cans then they're defo not gonna be arsed buying 2k and mixing their own to do it properly.

Minty- That's what I've said in every post though... You can do a good job with rattle cans, its just most people don't... Which is why I recommended Plastidip... Hardly any prep or skill needed, can be removed if you fuck up and will give a uniformed smooth finish without top coat or detailing.

You've done a good job with rattle cans but most people choose matt black because they can't/don't want to do a proper job and think its a easy way to paint a car.

In reality it doesn't matter what type of celly or colour you use, if you don't put the time and effort in, it will look shite, whether you go with matt black or candy purple.

I don't know anyone that would disagree
Those that do are the type of people that sit in McDonalds car park, in a saxo with a sub woofer.....

Its opinion isnt it.. Like assholes, the whole world has one.. doesnt mean we need to read them...... I actually like matt black on certain cars, I also drift without the use of trays.. now what?

Theres an s13 up for sale in the sale thread at the moment that was done with rattle cans (montana white graff paint) and it looks really well considering.

I am an avid fan of rollers, £15.95 worth of gloss Ca-ca Brown on a shitter of a car and still a better finish than Matt black with zero prep or effort
