Hi guys

brought my self a SARD Toyota Soarer, well that’s what it claims to be. How do I find out if it’s a genuine one or not. I will upload pictures and bring a build thread to this as it needs quite abit of work.

thanks
Travis

Only thing I could find was from a brochure on a Japanese web site.

From what I gather it's an option you could add to the 4.0 and 2.5 twin-turbo. It seems to be a cosmetic option only so I don't know if it'll show up on the VIN or on a plate some place on the car.

One thing it does not say on the site is in regards to the Chiba Toyopet. These are a chain of car dealers in japan that mostly deal with Toyotas. I don't know if this would have been exclusive option for just this dealer but it seems worded that way. So it might be worth looking for any old dealer stickers or service history. https://www.chibatoyopet.co.jp/

so I paid for the car today and cleared the mammoth bramble bush surrounding it.

the cars in a very poorly state due to the front and rear screen smashed and there being half a bramble bush grown in side of the car, There’s an ants nest in the scuttle of the engine bay and it’s not been started in 15 years. The air ride that’s on it is I’m presuming no good any more and the interior is very very dirty / damp / mouldy.

a few things I’m keeping spirits high on is that the oil in it is still liquid and looks okay. The body doesn’t look to rusty so I’m hoping the underside isn’t to bad and that the interior looks salvageable.

yes I have my work cut out and I’m hoping to save it with having a mass strip out and to start from scratch and building it back up.

It’s a sard built car having the full kit and interior parts. The air ride looks pretty factory and it’s sat on 19” splits.

I will keep this updated as I make progress and here’s to hoping I save this thing.

work has begun on bringing this back to life. Interior stripped and dried / cleaned removing anything electrical like old stereo / amps etc that isn’t needed. Under the carpet was a swimming pool which was to be expected but luckily the floor pans and inner sills are very solid. We come across 2 massive ant nests one in the front scuttle and one in the door shut but nothing a pressure washer didn’t quickly sort out.

I managed to source a donor car which is going to be so handy bringing this one back to life. I have decided to pull the engine to take it apart changing the chain / pullys / belts etc and to paint it up / clean it.

the air ride will be removed but it will be replaced with an after market air kit as I want to keep it as originally built as possible even replacing the wheels with a set of work wheels.

Got the floor fully cleaned / wire wheeled / hoovered / scotched / de greased / etch primes and raptored which is a kind of like sprayable buck liner for added protection.

Going to be putting some skinz sound deadening over the top before the carpet goes back in.

Put down some fresh sound deadening ( skinz ) and removed the dash.

I have a full black interior going in the car replacing the grey interior which is probably past saving anyway. Luckily the front electric seats still work so I will probably take them apart paint the frames and get them re trimmed black leather as I think for this car it’s to classy to put bucket seats in and a drift wheel haha I’m still undecided though as I would love to manual convert it, supercharge it and have abit more of a race feel to the car.
